Front End Designer Department: Technology / Data Platform Reports To: Data Infrastructure Lead Location: Hybrid – 3 days on-site in Larchmont, Westchester, NY About the Role We are seeking a Front End Designer who can hit the ground running. You will sit directly with stakeholders, capture their vision in Figma, iterate in real-time based on their feedback, and build functional React prototypes for sign-off—all before handing off to the development team. This is not a role where you wait for requirements documents. You extract requirements through conversation, visualize them immediately, and validate with working code. You'll leverage AI-assisted tools like Cursor to move fast and produce prototype code that developers can reference. You serve as the connective tissue between business stakeholders and engineering, ensuring that what gets built is exactly what was envisioned. Responsibilities Rapid Prototyping & Requirements Translation Sit directly with stakeholders to capture requirements and iterate on Figma designs in real-time Translate approved designs into functional React prototypes for stakeholder sign-off before full development Use AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor) to accelerate prototype creation and generate production-quality reference code Serve as the bridge between stakeholders and developers—ensuring nothing is lost in translation from idea to implementation Facilitate design reviews with business users to confirm intent is captured before handoff to engineering Design & UX Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma for internal applications and dashboards Develop and maintain a cohesive design system with reusable components that map to our React component library Conduct user research and usability testing with internal stakeholders to inform design decisions Define interaction patterns, micro-animations, and responsive behaviors Collaboration with Engineering Provide developers with signed-off React prototype code as a reference implementation Partner with React developers to ensure production builds maintain design fidelity and accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA) Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and code reviews to validate UI implementation Work with QA to define visual acceptance criteria and identify UI defects Process & Delivery Understand and participate in the code promotion process (development → staging → production) Review deployed features in staging environments before production release Iterate on designs based on QA feedback and real-world usage Maintain version control of design files and document design decisions Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design for web applications Expert proficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, prototyping, design tokens) Ability to build functional prototypes in React—not just static mockups Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools, specifically Cursor Proven ability to iterate designs live with stakeholders and turn around updates rapidly Excellent communication skills with a track record of translating business requirements into working software Strong portfolio demonstrating data-heavy dashboards, enterprise tools, or B2B applications Solid understanding of React component architecture, hooks, and state management Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD concepts Experience collaborating with developers using tools like Storybook Understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser considerations Based in or willing to commute to Larchmont, Westchester County, NY (3 days on-site required) Preferred Qualifications Experience in financial services, venture capital, or investment management Familiarity with data visualization best practices (charts, tables, complex data displays) Basic proficiency reading React/JSX code Experience with design-to-code tools (Figma Dev Mode, Zeplin, or similar) Knowledge of Tailwind CSS or other utility-first CSS frameworks Technical Environment Design Tools: Figma, FigJam Prototyping & Code: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Cursor Component Documentation: Storybook Collaboration: Jira, Confluence, Slack Version Control: GitHub What Success Looks Like This role requires immediate impact. You will be productive from day one—sitting with stakeholders, capturing feedback in real-time, and delivering working prototypes within days, not weeks. Stakeholders see their feedback reflected in updated Figma designs same-day Functional React prototypes ready for sign-off within 48-72 hours of design approval Zero ambiguity between what stakeholders approved and what developers build Development team receives production-ready designs with clean, reference-able prototype code
