Job DescriptionDescription: Overview The creators of San Chez Bistro and ROAM are excited to introduce our newest concept: San Chez Express. This vibrant grab-and-go café and event space offers an eclectic mix of globally inspired dishes, built around quality ingredients and thoughtful technique. Located in the Varnum building, Express is designed to serve as a quick, reliable, and welcoming stop for tenants and guests alike. We’re looking for a skilled, personable Barista to join a small, highly collaborative team where everyone contributes across roles. This is a well-rounded position for someone who enjoys both coffee and food, and wants to expand their skill set in a dynamic environment. What You’ll Do • Craft high-quality espresso drinks, teas, smoothies, and other beverages with consistency and care, • Deliver warm, engaging service—learning names, preferences, and building real relationships with guests, • Maintain strong knowledge of our food and beverage offerings, • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and café equipment, • Keep the café clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation standards, • Support food prep, including salad bar setup and grab-and-go items during slower periods, • Step into a broader kitchen role when needed, including assisting with prep work and supporting line operations, • Take on light cooking responsibilities when the line cook is unavailable (e.g., vacations or time off), • Contribute to overall cleanliness with tasks like mopping and general upkeep, • Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs to leadership, • Accurately handle cash and digital transactions, • Work closely with teammates to maintain a positive, team-first culture, • Stay curious—keeping up with coffee trends, techniques, and products What We’re Looking For • Passion for coffee and hospitality, • Interest in both beverage and food preparation (kitchen experience is a plus, but not required), • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, • High attention to detail and consistency, • Willingness to jump in wherever needed—this is a true team role, • A genuine interest in building relationships with repeat customers Hours of Operations • Monday-Friday 8am-2pm Why Join Us? Requirements: Requirements: • Previous experience as a Barista, line cook, prep cook, or in a similar customer service or food service role is preferred, • Interest in both coffee and kitchen operations; willingness to learn and step into light cooking and prep responsibilities as needed, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with regulars and collaborate effectively with team members, • Strong team-first mentality and flexibility to support a variety of tasks across café and kitchen operations, • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, • Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transactions, • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds, • Availability to work consistent morning/daytime shifts
