Position Summary The Prep Cook supports daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients and food items according to company recipes, production standards, and food safety guidelines. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area while ensuring consistency, quality, and safe food handling throughout each shift. Essential Functions • Prepare, portion, cut, chop, mix, and cook food according to established recipes and production standards., • Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control., • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures at all times., • Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, utensils, walk-in coolers, freezers, and workstations., • Receive, inspect, unload, and properly store deliveries., • Rotate inventory using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices., • Monitor product quality and report shortages, spoilage, or damaged goods to management., • Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment in accordance with training and procedures., • Maintain organized and fully stocked work areas to support kitchen production., • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and efficient food preparation., • Provide courteous assistance to customers or team members when needed., • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a commercial kitchen, restaurant, grocery kitchen, or similar food preparation environment., • Must be at least 18 years of age due to the operation of commercial kitchen equipment and shift requirements., • California Food Handler Card or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire., • Ability to follow written recipes, instructions, and production schedules., • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards., • Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills., • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with changing priorities., • Reliable attendance and punctuality are required. Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. • Standing and walking for up to 8 hours per shift., • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, and repetitive hand motions., • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance when needed., • Work in hot kitchen environments, refrigerated coolers, and freezer areas., • Exposure to wet surfaces and FDA-approved cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
