Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements. PAY TRANSPARANCY This role will offer $20 hourly. POSITION SUMMARY The Booting Officer is responsible for enforcing parking compliance by identifying and immobilizing scofflaw vehicles, coordinating towing activities, and managing the release process. This role also handles in-person customer payments, performs daily cash reconciliation, and provides professional, courteous service in potentially escalated situations. The position requires accuracy in recordkeeping, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with the public, teammates, contractors, and law enforcement partners. What Youll Do Patrolling & Vehicle Immobilization • Patrol designated areas within the City of Pittsburgh to identify scofflaw vehicles., • Immobilize vehicles by installing wheel boots in accordance with established procedures., • Coordinate and communicate effectively with other officers, teammates, and contractors., • Maintain accurate and timely records in logbooks and the Auto-Process system., • Interact with vehicle owners/occupants, providing information and direction as needed., • Collaborate with Pittsburgh Police and towing contractors when required., • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all customer interactions., • Answer general questions regarding payment options and account information., • Receive in-person payments and provide accurate receipts and change., • Balance cash drawers and reconcile daily transactions., • Secure and document all payments, deposits, and account notes., • Coordinate with teammates regarding the release of booted vehicles., • Communicate with towing contractors and record towed vehicles in the processing system., • Assist with monthly unclaimed vehicle auctions., • Supervise citizen access to vehicles in secure police impound., • Perform routine equipment maintenance., • Transport documents and sensitive materials securely., • Clean and maintain enforcement vehicles., • Perform other duties as assigned. What Youll Need to Succeed Required: • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution., • Valid drivers license., • Ability to perform basic mathematics for payment processing and reconciliation., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Experience handling cash and credit card transactions., • Prior experience in parking enforcement, law enforcement, code enforcement, security, or loss prevention., • Familiarity with Auto-Process or similar processing systems., • Experience in customer service, particularly in situations involving conflict resolution. DECISION-MAKING LATITUDE • Exercise judgment when identifying and correcting payment errors to ensure compliance with client contracts and service level agreements (SLAs)., • Determine whether an immobilized vehicle can remain in place or must be impounded, considering factors such as public safety, traffic flow, refuse collection, and special events. Physical Demands and Working Conditions • Work is performed primarily outdoors in various weather conditions., • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching are required., • Must be able to lift and maneuver wheel immobilization devices and other enforcement equipment weighing up to 30lbs, • Regular driving of company or enforcement vehicles is required., • Occasional exposure to dissatisfied or confrontational members of the public., • Standard office tasks, such as computer use and paperwork, are performed as part of daily reporting and payment processing.
