Job Description HPM is seeking a Project Engineer 2 or 3 (DOE) based out of our Englewood, CO headquarters. This position coordinates materials and change orders, expedites materials on the job, prepares monthly estimates, compiles production and cost statistics, and analyzes production statistics to identify problem areas. Requires a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the construction industry. Pay: $80,000 - 105,000 annually DOE Duties/Responsibilities: • Maintain record documents such as testing and inspections, progress photographs, etc., • Assist the Project Superintendent with walk-through inspections and stormwater management plans, • Fulfill other project-specific compliance requirements as assigned, • Attend weekly coordination meetings as required, • Help in developing and monitoring schedules, • Collect schedule data required to monitor project progress, • Create short-term construction schedules for small phases of work using scheduling software, • Coordinate, track, and ensure that project schedule includes all activities related to subcontractor and supplier buyout, submittals, shop drawings and approvals, delivery of materials, and mobilization of subcontractors, • Maintain as-built documentation on site, • Attend and maintain meeting minutes of regular OAC meetings, • Lead the permitting and occupancy certificate process, • Lead the document control process to ensure everyone is building from the correct set of documents and information, • Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, and transmittals as required, • Lead the project closeout process, • Ensure timely scheduling, execution, and documentation of owner training, • Perform cost coding activities for all contract expenditures, • Maintain a quality tracking system, • Prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts for review with Project Manager, • Support field staff as necessary, • Create purchase orders and draft sub/vendor contracts for review by the manager, • Order, receive, and inspect materials delivered to the project site for incorporation, • Approve subcontractor and vendor pay applications, • Maintain a procurement log, • Always prioritize safety and emphasize it whenever necessary, • Assist the Project Manager in implementing and enforcing safety plans, • Participate in weekly site safety inspections, document identified issues and report results Other Duties: Please be aware that this job description may not encompass all duties or responsibilities expected of the employee. Education and Certification Requirements: • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mining engineering, survey engineering, construction management, construction engineering, or a related degree; or comparable work experience, • At least 2+ years of experience in a heavy-civil construction or mining environment, • OSHA 30 certification preferred, • USACE CQM certification preferred, • Must be over the age of 18 to apply., • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required, as per company standards., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, adept at prioritizing and multitasking in fast-paced environments., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills., • Motivated self-starter dedicated to excellence and proactive problem-solving., • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, committed to achieving accurate and efficient results., • Deep commitment to safety, working closely with team members to prevent accidents/injuries., • Solid computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) and Bluebeam with a willingness to adapt to new software. Experience with Procore, Microsoft Project, and scheduling tools are a plus., • Solid understanding of quantity tracking and how it relates to production and budget., • Collaborative team member capable of autonomously achieving deadlines, goals, and objectives., • Ensure consistent and punctual attendance, demonstrating reliability and regularity., • Complete tasks within designated deadlines during standard operating hours and be available for overtime and weekend work as necessary., • Work safely and efficiently, adhering to both oral and written instructions, including safety protocols, equipment guidelines, and company policies., • Sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
