Job Description Job Title: Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling, testing, cleaning, and preparing electronic modems through a structured multi-step process. You will handle a variety of tasks, from receiving and documenting parts to performing functional tests, cosmetic repairs, and final packing for shipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent accuracy, and the ability to work on your feet throughout the day while collaborating closely with a team. Responsibilities • Receive incoming modems and components and accurately document all items received in the system., • Perform factory resets on modems by following defined procedures and using appropriate equipment., • Run automatic tests by plugging in multiple units at once, monitoring test cycles that may range from 60 to 90 minutes, and identifying which units require repair., • Conduct Wi‑Fi tests to verify connectivity and performance according to quality standards., • Perform elevated temperature tests to ensure modems function correctly under specified environmental conditions., • Carry out cosmetic cleaning of units to remove dirt, markings, and other surface imperfections., • Perform cosmetic repairs on housings or external components to restore units to acceptable appearance standards., • Execute in-process quality control (IPQC) checks to ensure each step of the process meets established quality requirements., • Assemble and kit parts and accessories required for each modem package, following detailed instructions and counts., • Build pallets and pack out completed units into kits, ensuring correct labeling, configuration, and secure packaging for shipment., • Prepare finished products for shipping, including scanning parts at every step, verifying documentation, and staging orders for outbound logistics., • Use RF scanners, computers, and test equipment to track parts and record progress throughout the 12-step process., • Handle general labor tasks such as moving materials, stocking components, and maintaining an organized workstation., • Collaborate with team members, support cross-training efforts, and rotate through multiple steps of the process as needed., • Follow safety procedures, use power tools and equipment correctly, and maintain a clean, safe work area., • Meet productivity, accuracy, and quality expectations while working efficiently on your feet throughout the shift. Essential Skills • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks., • Ability to stand and be on your feet for the entirety of the workday., • Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment., • Willingness to be cross-trained and work in multiple areas of the 12-step process., • Good hand dexterity for handling small parts, assembly, and repair tasks., • Punctuality and reliable attendance., • Experience or capability in assembly and electronic assembly work., • Ability to perform packing, pick, and stock tasks in a production environment., • Comfort using RF scanners, computers, and test equipment to support the process., • Capability to perform quality inspection and in-process quality control checks., • Ability to use basic power tools safely for assembly and repair tasks., • General labor capability, including moving, lifting, and organizing materials as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in repair or refurbishment of electronic equipment or components., • Experience in retail, warehouse, or production environments involving pick, pack, or stock responsibilities., • Familiarity with soldering and test equipment used in electronics environments., • Experience reading and following blueprints, work instructions, or similar documentation., • Previous exposure to quality-focused processes where parts are scanned and tracked at each step., • Comfort working with RF scanners and computer-based tracking systems in a high-volume setting. Work Environment You will work in a brand-new facility specifically built out for this operation in Elgin, IL, located approximately half a mile north of Interstate 90, half a mile south of Route 72, and just off Randall Road, with nearby gas stations and restaurants. The site includes a locker area and a cafeteria equipped with refrigerators and microwaves, providing convenient spaces for breaks and personal storage. The environment is production-focused and fast-paced, with team members on their feet for most of the day while moving between stations in the 12-step process. You will regularly use RF scanners, computers, test equipment, power tools, and general assembly tools to complete tasks. The facility emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safety, with parts scanned at every step to maintain control and traceability throughout the workflow. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00/hr.
