Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices. The successful candidate will learn the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. This position requires individuals who are seriously mechanically inclined, as it is not an assembly line or basic assembler role. Responsibilities • Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools., • Manipulate engine components during the assembly process., • Learn and apply technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair., • Interpret engine specifications and blueprints to perform tasks using correct tools., • Use torque wrench, pneumatic air power tools, and DC tooling during assembly., • Proven experience in an industrial environment, working with hands., • Experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment and DC tools., • Mid-level mechanical aptitude., • Experience following written work instructions and blueprints., • CPU skills to follow engineering drawings and processes. This opportunity offers a chance to work at one of the largest manufacturing plants in Lafayette, IN. Work Environment The facility offers a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment, split between assembly and machine shop areas. The dress code is relaxed, allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats, with a requirement for steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. PPE is mandatory, and the campus is tobacco-free. The assembly team typically works in pairs across four zones on the main line, with varying job times. Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, with specific hours and pay rates, and there is potential for overtime on Saturdays. The environment prioritizes safety and cleanliness, ensuring minimal debris throughout. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
