Job Description Job Title: Project Scheduler Job Description The Project Scheduler creates and maintains integrated project schedules for large capital projects, outages, project development plans, and corporate work management systems. This role manages contractor scheduling activities, analyzes critical paths and schedule changes, and performs what‑if analyses to support effective project execution and controls. The Project Scheduler works closely with project managers and cross‑functional teams to ensure schedules accurately reflect scope, constraints, and risks, while providing clear reporting and insights that support timely, cost‑effective delivery of complex engineering and construction initiatives. Responsibilities • Create, develop, and maintain fleet‑wide project and outage schedules for capital, maintenance, construction, and engineering projects., • Manage the corporate scheduling structure to ensure consistency, accuracy, and standardization across all projects and outages., • Collect schedule information from subject matter experts, project managers, contractors, and field teams, and translate it into detailed, logically linked work activities., • Sequence work activities, establish logic ties, and define milestones and constraints to build fully integrated project schedules., • Monitor milestone requirements and scheduling constraints, and promptly identify and communicate potential schedule risks or issues., • Report schedule issues and risks to project and outage managers, and facilitate coordination with them and subject matter experts to develop recovery strategies., • Meet regularly with project and outage managers to provide schedule status, evaluate critical paths, and proactively assess project schedule health., • Meet with crews, superintendents, contractors, and field or construction teams to obtain accurate progress updates and incorporate them into the schedule., • Conduct schedule workshops with project teams and contractors to develop recovery plans, resequencing options, and schedule adjustments., • Create clear and comprehensive project schedule narratives and reports for project teams and management., • Analyze schedule changes, perform what‑if analyses, and evaluate the impact of scope changes, delays, or constraints on the critical path., • Assist with project and outage execution and controls by providing schedule insights that support cost, coordination, and resource planning., • Exercise independent professional judgment to solve scheduling problems and coordinate issues related to cost, coordination, and timing., • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve scheduling issues and maintain realistic, achievable plans., • Integrate business process requirements into project schedules to ensure alignment with corporate procedures and work management systems., • Adapt schedules to support various project delivery methods, including design‑build, design‑bid‑build, informal bids, material purchases, and other approaches., • Work closely with the project management team to identify schedule deviations and trends, and recommend corrective actions., • Create and work with Primavera P6 Reflections to support critical path evaluation and scenario analysis., • Assist with the administration, functionality, documentation, and user training for Primavera P6 within the Engineering and Construction business unit., • Maintain project development plan (PDP) schedules for projects and outages, and develop PDP reports for project managers and management staff., • Review assigned project managers’ projects in the capital PDP portfolio to identify potential schedule problems and keep project managers informed., • Review project data in the portfolio management tool (OPPM) and collaborate with project managers to update data and resolve discrepancies., • Keep data current within schedules and confirm on a bi‑weekly basis that all data between OPPM and Primavera P6 is accurate and up to date., • Provide scheduling services to other business units and groups, supporting a broad range of projects across the organization., • Provide scheduling support services for maintenance projects, ensuring alignment with operational and outage requirements., • Support multiple projects and project managers simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining high‑quality schedules. Essential Skills • At least 4+ years of project scheduling experience using Primavera P6., • Hands‑on experience creating, developing, maintaining, updating, and analyzing project schedules in Primavera P6., • Experience supporting capital projects, outage projects, construction projects, maintenance projects, or engineering and construction project schedules., • Strong understanding of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), activity sequencing, logic ties, milestones, schedule constraints, and schedule update processes., • Demonstrated experience performing critical path analysis and identifying schedule impacts, risks, delays, and recovery needs., • Proven ability to support multiple project managers and projects at the same time in a fast‑paced environment., • Experience coordinating and leading project managers, contractors, subject matter experts, crews, superintendents, or field and construction teams to gather schedule progress updates., • Experience creating schedule reports, schedule narratives, milestone updates, and progress summaries for project teams and management., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel for reporting, as well as Outlook and Word., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders., • Ability to exercise professional judgment in solving scheduling problems and coordinating cost and schedule issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or a related field preferred; equivalent scheduling or project controls experience is acceptable., • Experience with portfolio management tools such as OPPM or similar systems., • Background in scope development, schedule management, and scope management across the full project life cycle., • Experience with project coordination, client relationship management, and client communication., • Familiarity with budgeting and budget management in the context of project controls., • Knowledge of power generation and transmission and distribution (T+D) projects, including greenfield and brownfield environments., • Exposure to PMP certification or formal project management methodologies is beneficial. Work Environment This role is tied to the headquarters in Winchester, Kentucky, with a hybrid work schedule available. Projects span greenfield, brownfield, power generation, and transmission and distribution initiatives, offering exposure to a wide range of utility and infrastructure work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $74.00/hr.
