Details • Position is located on a 31-bed Medical Telemetry unit within a 207-licensed-bed, non-trauma, non-teaching hospital that is a designated Chest Pain and Stroke Center, • Patient population includes end stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis (PD), fluid overload, sickle cell, diabetes mellitus (DM), altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health, • RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6, with critical surge ratios of 1:7-8; CNA ratio is 1:6-12, • Shift is 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week, • EMR is Epic; IV pump is Alaris; medication dispensing via Omnicell; monitors are Philips, • Weekend rotation is every other weekend, • No on-call or call-back requirements, • Floating is required to all units within scope at the home facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned regional division as staffing needs arise — decline if not agreeable, • Schedule is posted in 6-week cycles Requirements • Active NC RN license or a valid Compact RN license required, • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Proficient general Med/Tele skillset required, including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, PCA pumps), • Experience managing medication infusions/drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids required, • Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Minimum of one professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration Additional Information • Travelers will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation, • Orientation includes facility-level NEO followed by 2 days of departmental orientation, • Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team (11 AM–7 PM and 11 PM–7 AM), a resource nurse (as staffing allows), respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist coverage, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any unmet contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract, • Scrubs must be navy in color, • Parking is provided at no cost, • First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered About American Traveler With over 25 years of experience, American Traveler has established a reputation for outstanding customer service.
