BSMH Orientation Calendar B Position Details - ASAP start preferred! RN-Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit NO LOCAL CANDIDATES (must reside outside 50-mile radius). MUST pass EKG Exam at Orientation (Study Guide Available in Simplify Library). Traveler must be able to read/verify rhythm strips Proficient with lab draws and peripheral IV starts required Must have experience managing and titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone). No vasopressor drips utilized on this unit. Experience with BiPAP and insulin drips required. NO travel pairs/teams accepted Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Schedule: 12-Hr Days, every other weekend and major holiday required May be able to accommodate weekend blocked schedule. Interview Process: ITO interview Unit Specific Details Unit: 27-Bed Cardio-Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit. All patients require continuous cardiac monitoring. Bedside monitors in every room. Patient Population: Cardiac - Heart block, chronic cardiac conditions, and cardiac rhythm management. Procedural - Chest tubes and progressive cardiac care population. Required Skill Sets & Equipment: Titrating cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, and Amiodarone (no vasopressors). Insulin drips and BiPAP required. Cardiac rhythm monitoring required for all patients. Equipment: Alaris pumps, Hoyer lift, Sara Stedy, PCA pumps, GlucoStabilizer, bedside cardiac monitors. Unit Support: Typically, 2-3 CNAs on days and 2 CNAs on nights. Charge nurse typically carries a lighter assignment; travelers rarely serve as charge. Strong core staff with experienced charge nurses. Floating: Traveler may float within skillset to ICU (for Stepdown/Progressive Care holds), Med/Surg, and ED for Stepdown or lower acuity holds as needed. Assignments will remain within travelers demonstrated competency and scope. Scrubs: Navy blue, white, or any combination of the two colors.
