Job DescriptionSalary: The Levy Company is currently hiring an experienced Traffic Signal Field Technician to perform onsite repair and/or installation of Traffic Signal systems. This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and occasional fiber optic cable installation. Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to assisting with: • Install equipment including but not limited to signal poles, mast arms, ILSNs, luminaires, cameras, detectors, controller cabinets, battery backup system, and other ethernet equipment., • Install electrical conductor, data conductor, and IMSA cable., • Determine the most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency., • Record and document work for projects, maintain compliance standards, plans, and other documents., • Serve as traffic signal subject matter expert in providing technical assistance & training., • Connect conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly., • Connect electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment., • Test devices to ensure they work correctly., • Prepare logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities., • Prepare documentation to show compliance with TxDOT specifications. Required Qualifications: • At least one year of construction and maintenance of traffic signal equipment and fiber optic infrastructure to include troubleshooting and configuring of equipment., • Hands-on experience with traffic signal systems and devices such as closed-circuit television (CCTV), radar vehicle sensing devices, including installation of temp signals and power systems., • Valid Texas driver license. Preferred Qualifications: • Current / valid IMSA Cert., • TRF450 certification. Required Competencies: • Must have basic electrical knowledge in AC and DC voltage., • Basic construction skills (power and hand tools)., • Familiarity with construction safety protocols and procedures., • Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and diagrams., • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures., • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner., • Proficient in using computer applications to include Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities., • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements., • Effective oral and written communication skills., • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and results oriented., • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others., • Ability to complete work accurately, efficiently, and timely under minimal supervision. Working Environment: Work is performed in primarily outdoor environments with constant exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, traffic, and temperature extremes. Physical Demands: • Frequent and repeated hand and arm movement to manipulate tools, handles, and levers., • Frequent and repeated lifting from ground to various heights up to 50 pounds individually, and team lifting heavier items., • Frequent and repeated exerting of force up to 75 pounds., • Standing and walking for extended periods of time., • Frequent walking on uneven and / or unpaved terrain., • Frequent climbing steps, ladders, and in/out/onto vehicles., • Frequent working at heights of up to 40 feet in a bucket., • Frequent and repeated bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching., • Visual acuity to drive motor vehicles and mobile equipment and to read printed and electronic documents., • Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common driving and construction environment noises.
