Position Department: Engineering/Planning Department/ Area: Planning Position Summary: The candidate will be responsible to develop the most appropriate method and sequence of operations for a particular part manufacture. The candidate will plan the entire program of work and must anticipate a contract's demands in terms of labor, materials, equipment and technical challenges, as well as ensuring that manufacturing is completed safe to a high technical standard. The planning engineer is also responsible for specifying the timing of the contract, as well as specific compliance in all respects with the terms and conditions of the contract. This can be a major responsibility when penalty causes for late completion and delivery may be written into manufacturing contracts. Purpose: Selecting the appropriate techniques and sequence of events for a particular part. Assess and implement a manufacturing sequence addressing feasibility, quality and economical aspects within lead time using available materials and resources. Presenting schedules of work, often with visual aids. Create or draft documents necessary for the manufacturing of bolts, using customer supplied designs and specifications. Skills and Attributes: Use specific planning computer software. Prioritizes and plans work activities. Uses time efficiently. Synthesizes complex and or diverse information Ability to function effectively under pressure in order to meet deadlines. Ability to multitask. Demonstrates attention to detail. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Develops alternative solutions as required under the circumstances. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Uses intuition and experience to complement data. Daily Tasks: Develop the most appropriate and timely method and sequence of operations for a particular part manufacture. Minimum Qualifications: 2 years minimum experience in aerospace fastener manufacturing or similar product line. Mechanical drafting skills preferred (Autodesk Inventor 3D, Auto-Cad, Solid works) Familiar with MRP system Some hands-on machining and tooling design a plus. Engineering background and good Math aptitude a must. Main responsibility is to create detailed work instructions and sketches Reporting Relationships: Reports to Planning Manager Position type: Requires full work time only. 8 hours a shift- Monday to Friday - overtime expected depending on production needs. Analyzes product failure date and laboratory tests results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions. Designs and directs testing or control of processing procedures, monitors material performance and evaluates deterioration. Conducts and supervises tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality. Determines appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials. Assists and guides technical staff in developing materials for specific uses in products and devices.
