We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to lead the electrical design and execution across oil and gas facilities within our Facilities Engineering & Construction team. This role will manage standard electrical designs, specify and design instrumentation and control systems, oversee commissioning, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in electrical power distribution for systems <600V, VFDs, panelboards, and large HP motors (up to 800HP). This role will be responsible for interfacing with the electrical utilities to bring line power to our facilities. Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, and Arc Flash Studies, preferably in ETAP. Standard Design • Lead and maintain standard electrical design for upstream facilities, including equipment specification, procurement, and construction support., • Develop and maintain electrical design standards for power distribution, grounding, motor control, MCCs, VFDs, heat trace, and facility power systems., • Specify and procure electrical equipment including power distribution equipment, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, motor starters, heat tracing systems, and electrical panels., • Oversee purchasing and supply chain activities related to electrical scope, including scheduling, ordering, expediting, and cost tracking., • Evaluate alternative electrical designs and equipment selections, assessing impacts to safety, reliability, operability, and cost., • Review electrical portions of equipment RFPs for facilities (separators, heaters, VRUs, Instrument Air skids, compressors, coolers, etc.)., • Participate in HAZOP / PHA design reviews, providing electrical and power system expertise., • Work closely with Facilities Engineering to align electrical design with mechanical, process, and civil requirements., • Collaborate with Operations to incorporate operability, maintainability, and safety feedback into electrical designs. Per Pad Execution • Develop and review site‑specific electrical drawings, including one‑lines, grounding plans, area classification drawings, conduit/cable schedules, and load calculations., • Provide electrical design input for power distribution layouts, motor loads, voltage drop, short‑circuit considerations, and equipment ratings., • Support and respond to RFIs related to electrical construction, equipment installation, and code compliance., • Coordinate with Field Electrical / I&E technicians to support site execution and resolve field issues., • Coordinate with local utilities for electrical service design, load letters, meter requirements, and service energization., • Perform site walkdowns and inspections to verify electrical installation quality and compliance with construction drawings, NEC, and BPX standards., • Support troubleshooting of electrical power issues, motor drives, and facility electrical equipment, both on‑site and remotely., • Ensure all arc flash studies are performed and equipment is properly labeled. Responsible for performing arc flash studies directly or managing 3rd party contractors Commissioning • Support electrical pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities, including continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, grounding verification, and power system energization., • Execute or support electrical safety system testing and verification prior to PSSR., • Redline electrical drawings and coordinate as‑built documentation., • Provide remote and on‑site support during startup for electrical equipment issues and system performance., • Participate in PSSR and support electrical handover documentation to Operations., • Track electrical startup issues and failures to support continuous improvement., • Ensure accurate power metering and electrical measurement, coordinating calibration and verification activities as required., • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – preferably Electrical (or relevant experience), • Experience with electrical power systems for oil & gas or industrial facilities, including power distribution, grounding, motor control, MCCs, VFDs, and heat tracing., • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), hazardous area classification (API RP 500 / 505), and applicable electrical safety standards., • Experience supporting electrical design, procurement, and construction for upstream or process facilities., • Experience with medium‑ and low‑voltage electrical systems, including equipment sizing and power system considerations., • Ability to review and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, electrical one‑lines, grounding plans, and 3D models., • Experience supporting electrical commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and field execution., • Familiarity with measurement and metering electrical requirements, • Experience coordinating with Facilities Engineering, Operations, and Construction teams., • Experience performing and reviewing arc flash studies, preferably using ETAP, • License Professional Engineer (or EIT working towards PE), • Familiarity working with electrical utilities and CO-OPs, • SQL, Python and ability to do data analytics using Snowflake, • Knowledge of industrial OT network architecture and connectivity principles, • Knowledge of AGA/API measurement standards for allocations and custody transfer.
