Job Description Maintenance Mechanic-2nd and 3rd Shifts ($36-39/hr) Job Description This role focuses on performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high-speed packaging machinery in a clean, organized warehouse environment. You will support multiple packaging lines, including form-fill-seal equipment for nutrition and personal care products, ensuring reliable operation and minimal downtime across a large fleet of machines. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of packaging machines, including form-fill-seal lines used for nutrition and personal care products., • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment quickly and effectively to minimize downtime across 42 packaging machines, including lines that run 24/7., • Use manual machines and basic machining skills to manufacture replacement parts on the spot when needed., • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues on packaging and conveying equipment., • Work with packaging machines such as Mespacks, Protopacks, Volpaks, Allpacks, and similar equipment to maintain optimal performance., • Inspect, adjust, and repair conveyors, motors, servo motors, bearings, and other mechanical components to ensure smooth operation., • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams to support troubleshooting and repairs., • Apply knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), process controls, and digital logic systems to assist in diagnosing equipment issues., • Perform electrical troubleshooting on three-phase, AC/DC circuits, and related electronic components within equipment., • Follow established preventive maintenance schedules and document all work performed accurately and timely., • Collaborate with production and packaging teams to prioritize maintenance activities and support production goals., • Support safe work practices by maintaining a clean, organized work area and adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines., • Work assigned 2nd or 3rd shift schedules, including rotating weekend coverage, to support around-the-clock operations., • Continuously monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency. Essential Skills • Minimum of 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably as a maintenance mechanic., • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment in a fast-paced environment., • Hands-on experience using manual machines to manufacture or modify parts as needed., • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on packaging equipment and conveying systems., • Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, motors, servo motors, and mechanical drive systems., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings., • Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and packaging lines., • Basic to intermediate electrical skills, including electrical troubleshooting and familiarity with three-phase, AC/DC circuits, and advanced electronics., • Understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), process controls, digital logic systems, and basic robotics concepts., • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)., • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history., • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and support rotating weekend schedules., • Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing equipment issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Associate degree or technical certifications in a related field are preferred., • 3–5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment, with pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred., • Experience working with packaging equipment such as Mespacks, Protopacks, Volpaks, Allpacks, or similar systems is a strong plus., • Background in food, beverage, or packaging environments is beneficial., • Comfort working with conveyors, packaging equipment, and high-speed production lines., • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and symbols., • Familiarity with process controls and digital logic systems in automated equipment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining equipment reliability and safety., • Effective communication skills to work closely with production and maintenance teams. Work Environment This position is based in a warehouse environment where portions of the facility are climate controlled, providing a comfortable and clean workspace. The operation receives product in bulk and focuses on individual packaging rather than manufacturing, resulting in a well-organized and controlled setting. You will work around high-speed packaging equipment, including form-fill-seal machines, conveyors, and various automated packaging systems. Shifts include 2nd shift (approximately 2:30 p.m. – 10:30/11:30 p.m.) and 3rd shift (approximately 8:00 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.), Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend coverage (approximately one out of three Saturdays and one out of three Sundays). The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficient operations while providing access to modern tools and equipment needed to maintain and troubleshoot packaging machinery.
