Job Description Job Title: Rail Car Loader ($19.73 - $20.13 starting pay) Job Description The Rail Car Loader supports bulk truck and railcar loading operations by safely operating loading equipment, following production schedules, and maintaining a clean and compliant work area. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, performing basic sanitation and preventative maintenance tasks, and ensuring that all orders are loaded accurately and on time while adhering to strict safety and food safety procedures. Responsibilities • Operate all equipment required to load bulk trucks and railcars in a safe and efficient manner., • Work safely on top of bulk trucks and railcars using appropriate fall protection at all times., • Follow loading schedules to ensure all orders are loaded accurately and ready by the correct departure time., • Perform sanitation tasks in and around the bulk house to maintain a clean and safe work environment., • Carry out basic preventative maintenance on equipment as directed., • Work outdoors in all weather conditions while maintaining safety and productivity standards., • Stand and walk continuously for 8–12 hours as needed to support loading operations., • Climb stairs and ladders to access loading areas and equipment safely., • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) as part of daily duties., • Direct other employees in proper safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures when needed., • Learn about and operate all equipment in the bulk house as part of cross-training., • Follow all safety and food safety rules, procedures, and guidelines without exception., • Provide shift coverage as required, including rotating shifts and some weekend work in a swing shift schedule., • Use basic problem-solving and mechanical aptitude to address minor issues in the loading process. Essential Skills • Ability to operate equipment used to load bulk trucks and railcars, or willingness to learn through provided training., • Ability to work safely at heights on top of bulk trucks and railcars while using fall protection., • Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions., • Ability to stand and walk continuously for 8–12 hours when necessary., • Ability to climb stairs and ladders safely and repeatedly., • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms)., • Reliable transportation to and from work for all shifts, including weekends., • Willingness and ability to rotate shifts, provide job coverage, and work some weekends in a swing shift role., • Willingness to follow all safety and food safety rules and procedures consistently., • Ability to direct other employees in proper safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Basic problem-solving skills to identify and address routine issues in loading operations., • Mechanical aptitude to support basic equipment operation and preventative maintenance., • Experience with hand tools, assembly, or mechanical assembly is beneficial., • Willingness to learn and operate all equipment in the bulk house as part of ongoing training., • Comfort working in a physically demanding, industrial environment., • Openness to training on all necessary programs and operational requirements. Work Environment This role is based in bulk truck and railcar loading operations within an industrial facility. The position requires working in all weather conditions and spending extended periods standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and handling materials up to 50 pounds. You will use hand tools and mechanical equipment as part of loading, sanitation, and basic preventative maintenance tasks. The schedule follows a swing shift with rotating shifts and some weekend work to provide coverage for operational needs. The environment is safety-focused, with required use of appropriate fall protection when working on top of trucks and railcars and adherence to strict safety and food safety procedures at all times.
