Job DescriptionJob Title: Rail Car LoaderJob Description The Rail Car Loader safely operates bulk truck and railcar loading equipment to ensure products are loaded accurately, on time, and in compliance with safety and food safety standards. This role works primarily in bulk loading operations, performing equipment operation, sanitation, and basic preventative maintenance while following established schedules and procedures. Responsibilities • Operate all equipment required to load bulk trucks and railcars in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner., • Work safely on top of bulk trucks and railcars using appropriate fall protection at all times., • Follow detailed loading schedules to ensure all orders are loaded by the correct departure time., • Perform sanitation tasks in the bulk house to maintain a clean and safe work area., • Carry out basic preventative maintenance on bulk loading equipment as directed., • Work outside in all weather conditions while maintaining safety and productivity standards., • Stand and walk continuously for 8–12 hours as needed to complete loading operations., • Climb stairs and ladders regularly to access equipment, platforms, and railcars., • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) as part of daily loading and sanitation tasks., • Direct other employees in proper safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures when required., • Learn and operate all equipment in the bulk house, including any new or updated systems., • Follow all safety, food safety, and sanitation rules and procedures without exception., • Rotate between shifts as part of a swing shift schedule and provide job coverage as needed., • Work some weekends to support production and shipping requirements., • Use basic problem-solving and mechanical aptitude to identify and address minor issues with equipment or processes., • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate loading activities and resolve issues quickly.Essential Skills, • Ability to safely operate all equipment required to load bulk trucks and railcars., • Ability to work safely on top of bulk trucks and railcars using appropriate fall protection., • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions while performing physical tasks., • Ability to stand and walk continuously for 8–12 hours if necessary., • Ability to climb stairs and ladders regularly as part of daily duties., • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds (23 kilograms)., • Ability to rotate shifts as part of a swing shift schedule and provide job coverage on different shifts., • Ability to work some weekends as required by production and shipping schedules., • Reliable transportation to and from work for all shifts and weekends., • Willingness to follow all safety and food safety rules and procedures consistently., • Willingness to learn about and operate all equipment in the bulk house., • Ability to direct other employees in proper safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures., • Basic problem-solving skills to handle routine issues in loading operations., • Basic mechanical aptitude to support equipment operation and minor maintenance., • Comfort working with hand tools and performing general labor tasks in an industrial environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with hand tools, assembly, or mechanical assembly in an industrial or manufacturing setting is beneficial., • Prior experience in bulk truck or railcar loading operations is an advantage., • Experience performing sanitation or basic preventative maintenance in a production environment is helpful., • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and operational needs in a swing shift environment., • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely loading of orders., • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and support safe operations., • Comfort working in a structured environment with established safety and food safety procedures., • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in bulk truck and railcar loading operations and involves working both outdoors and in bulk house facilities. The position follows a swing shift schedule, requiring rotation between different shifts and some weekend work to support production and shipping needs. The work is physically demanding, involving continuous standing and walking for up to 8–12 hours, regular climbing of stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms). You will work in all weather conditions and in an environment that emphasizes strict adherence to safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chattanooga, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.13 - $20.13/hr.
