Job Description NOTICE NO. 01/2026 The Consulate General of Brazil in Houston hereby informs interested parties, through the Selection Committee appointed by the Consul-General of Brazil in Houston, that it will conduct a selection process to hire 1 (one) Chancery Support Assistant (APC), in accordance with Decree No. 1,570 of July 21, 1995, and the Ordinance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of September 12, 1995, and pursuant to the provisions of this Notice. 1. Employment Regime 1.1. A Local Assistant is an employee hired locally, for a fixed term, to provide technical, administrative, and/or support services on a full-time basis. Employment relations between the Local Assistant and the Consulate General of Brazil in Houston are governed by the federal laws of the United States of America and by the laws of the State of Texas. Brazilian labor law does not apply. The Local Assistant shall not have an employment relationship with the Brazilian federal public administration. 2. Position and Duties 2.1. Position: Chancery Support Assistant (APC) 2.2. Duties: the selected candidate shall perform general service tasks, primarily acting as a driver, and may also be required to carry out internal support tasks such as receptionist, office runner, messenger, and other administrative support duties. 2.3. Requirements: a) Minimum education: completion of elementary school; b) Fluency in spoken and written English; c) Valid driver’s license issued by a U.S. authority; d) Ability to use navigation tools, operate passenger vehicles, and knowledge of local traffic laws. 2.4. Salary, Workload, and Benefits: The gross salary will be USD 2,980.92 (two thousand nine hundred eighty U.S. dollars and ninety-two cents) per month, with a workload of 40 hours per week. Exceptionally, the employee may be required to be on call or work in urgent situations or emergencies, including in other cities. Benefits include medical and dental insurance (with deductions and limitations), paid annual leave, and enrollment in the Brazilian social security system (INSS) for Brazilian nationals legally unable to enroll in the local system. 3. Application Requirements Candidates must meet the following conditions: a) Have legal residency status in the United States (submit a green card or U.S. passport); b) Be at least 18 (eighteen) years old (submit a photo ID); c) Present a valid U.S. driver’s license; d) Submit a curriculum vitae; e) Provide proof of completion of elementary education; f) Provide a criminal background check (“Criminal Records”) issued by the County Court House of the county of residence. Brazilian candidates must also: g) Be in compliance with military service obligations, in the case of male applicants (submit Certificate of Military Service or Exemption); h) Be in compliance with electoral obligations (submit electoral clearance certificate issued by the TSE website); i) Not hold any public office, employment, or position. The selected candidate must submit a medical certificate of good health (“Pre-Employment Physical Form” or recent medical statement), issued by a physician located within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Brazil in Houston, prior to hiring, at the time of contract signing. 3.1. Notes: a) Candidates who have a family relationship up to the second degree with any employee or local staff member of this Consulate General are not eligible to apply. b) Candidates who already receive retirement benefits or pensions from the Brazilian social security system are not eligible to apply. c) It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to follow updates regarding this selection process on the Consulate General’s website (), as well as to regularly check their personal email inbox, in order to remain informed about the progress of the process, including any changes to dates. The Consulate General shall not be responsible for unread emails or messages redirected to spam folders. 4. Application Applicants must take the following steps: a) Complete and sign the application form (Annex I); b) Send the completed and signed form, together with copies of the supporting documents listed in item 3, letters “a” through “h” (as applicable), in a single email to , with the subject line: “Application – Selection Process 01/2026 – [Candidate Name]” 4.1. Applications are free of charge. 5. Application Period Applications must be received by the Consulate General of Brazil in Houston between March 18 and April 1, 2026. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. 6. Selection Method First Phase – Document Review: this phase aims to verify compliance with the requirements established in this Notice for application and hiring purposes. Results will be available on April 2, 2026, on the Consulate General’s website. After reviewing the documents, the Selection Committee will invite candidates whose applications have been accepted to proceed to the next phase. Second Phase – Written Tests: candidates selected in the first phase will take written tests in English (weight 1) and traffic rules (weight 1). All tests will be conducted in person at the Consulate General. General Rules: a) Tests must be completed using a black or blue pen; b) Identification sheets will be collected before the start of the tests; c) During the written test, candidates may not use dictionaries, calculators, phones, or any other reference material, including electronic devices; d) Any candidate caught using unauthorized materials will receive a score of zero and be immediately disqualified. Test date: April 7, 2026. The tests will have a maximum duration of one hour. Third Phase – Interview: after the written tests, candidates will undergo an interview (weight 2). Interview date: April 7, 2026. Interviews will last approximately 15 minutes and will be conducted in alphabetical order after the end of the written tests. The interviews will be held at the headquarters of the Consulate General: 5444 Westheimer Rd, Suite 1900, Houston, Texas 77056. The preliminary result of the written tests and interviews will be published by April 8, 2026, on the Consulate General's website (). The definitive result and summons for the next phase will be published on April 13, 2026. Fourth Phase - Practical Driving Test: the top five candidates in the sum of the scores of the written tests and interviews will be called for the practical driving test (weight 4). The practical test will evaluate driving in a vehicle of the Consulate General, etiquette, and traffic safety, and it is mandatory to carry a driver's license. Traffic violations or accidents due to lack of skill will cause immediate elimination. Date of the practical test: April 15, 2026, at times to be scheduled with the candidates. If the vehicle of the Consulate General of Brazil in Houston receives a fine resulting from a traffic violation caused by the candidate during the driving test, it will be up to the candidate to pay the fine within a maximum period of 10 (ten) business days from the notification. If the vehicle of the Consulate General of Brazil in Houston is involved in an accident caused by fault (negligence, imprudence, or lack of skill) or by willful misconduct of the candidate, the interested party will be responsible for the vehicle repair expenses. The final result of the selection will be published on April 17, 2026, on the Consulate General's website (). In case of a tie in the final grade, preference will be given to the candidate who demonstrates better knowledge of the Portuguese language. If the tie persists, preference will be given to the candidate with the highest score in the practical driving test, followed by the highest score in the Interview, and, finally, the oldest candidate. Appeals An appeal may be filed against the result of the evaluations, which must be presented to the Selection Committee, duly reasoned, within a maximum period of 2 (two) days after the disclosure of said result. The appeal must be sent by email to , with the following subject: "Appeal – Selection Process 01/2026 – [Candidate's Name]". Appeals will be judged within 1 (one) day after receipt, and the result communicated directly to the interested party. 8. Validity Period of the Selection Process This selection process is intended to fill 1 (one) vacancy in the role of Chancery Support Assistant and will be valid for 12 (twelve) months, counted from the date of disclosure of the final result. Candidates who have participated in the fourth phase but are not hired for the vacancy referred to in this Public Notice will form a reserve register and may be used in the event of new vacancies opening during the validity period of this selection process. In the event of new vacancies opening, these candidates will be called according to the classification order obtained in the selection process. 9. Hiring The expected start date is April 20, 2026. The initial contract will have a term of three months and will be considered a probationary contract. After the probationary period, if the evaluation is satisfactory, the contract will come into effect for a fixed term of 1 (one) year, and may be renewed. 10.
