Job Description Harbor is seeking a Career Services Coordinator to join the team in Toledo! This role provides coordination to the Career Services department and provides vocational assessment and guidance to clients. Position is full-time. Education/Experience/Other Requirements: • Minimum of bachelor's degree in counseling, social work or closely related behavioral/mental field from an accredited college or university, plus 2 years vocational rehabilitation experience required; providing vocational rehabilitation services (i.e. job development, job coaching) to BVR, ODJFS funding sources., • Preference will be given to a candidate licensed in Ohio (LSW or LPC) and/or to those who have experience in vocational rehabilitation with the noted client population., • Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word., • CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment., • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier. Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties: • Exhibits leadership and team building to promote a cooperative atmosphere, which leads to an acceptable/expected level of productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness of team members., • Participates in staff meetings, serves on committees as appointed, and is actively involved in continuing education and professional organizations as appropriate., • Assists with development and implementation of a program evaluation component; collects, compiles, and interprets data. Submits required reports in a timely and accurate fashion., • Works with Vocational and Harbor leadership to ensure success of program(s)., • Responsible for supervision of Career Services Specialists., • Coordinates with HR on Employment Relations matters., • Works in partnership and under the guidance of the county Department of Planning and Development. DOCUMENTATION • Responsible for the quality and completeness of the client record., • Completes an initial interview, career assessment, and develops and updates an Individualized Employment Plan (IEP) for each client reflecting the client’s goals and support needs., • Responsible for accurate and timely documentation including Client Service/Progress Notes, Incident Report forms and any other forms necessary to document services and determine program eligibility., • Types documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor., • In providing services, will fulfill or exceed client contact expectations established by Harbor and document this in case files. EVALUATION • Assesses client “readiness” for employment and formulates appropriate interventions to assist the client in making progress towards setting and achieving their employment goals., • Assists the client in identifying his/her interests, skills, and aptitudes to assist in exploring possible vocational choices., • Assists the client in gaining information on the effects of employment on entitlements / financial assistance that the client may be receiving (i.e., SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8, Food Stamps) to assist the client in making an informed choice., • Evaluates worksite/employee job match and may complete worksite job analysis., • Evaluates and revises the IEP according to the client’s responses and needs., • Assesses client, employer, partner, and community satisfaction with career services and identifies any additional service needs. CRISIS PREVENTION/INTERVENTION • Follows crisis prevention/intervention and inpatient pre-screening protocols. ONGOING INTERVENTIONS • Assists the client in developing employment opportunities and the skills to choose, obtain, and maintain employment., • Provides workshops/classes to groups of job seekers in person and in the community and makes classes available for job seekers to participate virtually using a video platform (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, etc.)., • Provides support, education (i.e., benefits counseling, advantages of employment) and consultation to clients, families, and/or significant others., • Actively develops employment opportunities and assists clients in learning job skills as needed, individually or in groups., • Provides referral for support services as noted in the IEP to maintain the client in the environment of choice and to enhance client and family functioning., • Monitors clients to support in achieving goals as identified on IEP, maintaining employment, and establishing positive work history., • Works well with partner agencies at OMJ, attends OMJ meetings, and professionally represents Harbor and OMJ., • Responsive to client needs, demonstrating excellent communication and responsiveness to OMJ partner agencies, referral sources, employers, staff, supervisors, and clients., • Performs community outreach for recruitment, client engagement, and necessary support services., • Provides coaching and mentoring assistance as needed to maintain and retain employment., • Carries and utilizes a cell phone for business related communication with supervisor and other staff. COLLABORATION • Assists the client and family in increasing social support skills and networks., • Coordinates evaluations and assessments by internal and/or external providers., • Coordinates and monitors all services identified in the IEP. SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS • Maintains current and valid Ohio or Michigan driver’s license, a safe driving record, a mechanically safe vehicle, adequate auto insurance, and complies with Harbor’s transportation policy and procedures., • Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates continued growth., • Provides help gaining access to essential community resources and linking with appropriate vocational resources (BVR, ODJFS, BWC, etc.).
