Thrive Now in Pleasant Hill is seeking aCertified Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC) to provide compassionate, high-quality clinical care to individuals navigating substance use disorders. General Description The Certified Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC) provides direct clinical services to clients receiving substance use disorder treatment, including individual counseling, group facilitation, treatment planning, documentation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. This role is essential in supporting clients through recovery using evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, and a person-centered approach aligned with ASAM criteria. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services in accordance with Iowa licensure standards and program requirements, • Complete biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries within required timeframes, • Utilize ASAM Criteria and Stages of Change to support individualized treatment planning, • Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups aligned with program curriculum, • Collaborate with medical, nursing, case management, and recovery support staff to ensure coordinated care, • Monitor client progress, address barriers to treatment, and support relapse prevention planning, • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), • Uphold ethical standards, professional boundaries, and confidentiality requirements (including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2), • Participate in clinical team meetings, supervision, and required trainings, • Respond appropriately to crisis situations and follow established safety protocols Qualifications Required: • Active Iowa CADAC certification in good standing, • Minimum of 1 year of experience providing substance use disorder counseling (residential or outpatient preferred), • Knowledge of ASAM Criteria, evidence-based treatment models, and documentation standards, • Experience in residential or detox treatment settings, • Co-occurring disorder experience, • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing Key Competencies • Strong clinical judgment and ethical decision-making, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Empathy, professionalism, and emotional intelligence, • Time management and documentation accuracy, • Cultural humility and respect for multiple pathways to recovery Work Conditions • Clinical treatment environment with regular interaction with clients in various stages of recovery, • May require evening, weekend, or holiday coverage based on program needs, • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and facilitate groups for extended periods Compensation This range reflects Ascension Recovery Services good faith estimate at the time of posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity. Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
