Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician provides electro-mechanical operational, preventative, and emergency maintenance support for airport baggage handling systems. This role focuses on ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of conveyors, motors, power-turns, carousels, and related components through routine inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and clear communication with the control center and technical staff. Responsibilities • Provide electro-mechanical operational, preventative, and emergency maintenance support for airport baggage handling systems., • Work safely and correctly with a variety of tools and hand tools, consistently using appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment., • Inspect curbside and ticket counter hardware, cladding, and belts on all three levels of the assigned area and document findings., • Conduct assigned preventative maintenance tasks and promptly report any deficiencies or irregularities., • Respond to E-Calls from the baggage handling system control center and maintain clear, timely communication regarding status and updates., • Report to assigned areas and inspect all baggage handling system belts, motors, power-turns, and carousels for proper operation., • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, including cleaning conveyors and surrounding areas and removing debris from between conveyors., • Recognize potential issues through careful audial and visual inspection of equipment and components., • Diagnose equipment failures under the guidance and direction of technical staff., • Make minor electrical and mechanical adjustments to ensure system functionality, performance, and reliability., • Clear and reset baggage handling system jams in a safe, efficient, and timely manner., • Analyze situations and communicate effectively with Technicians and the Supervisor team to resolve issues., • Take temperature and speed readings of components and conveyor belting as part of routine checks and troubleshooting., • Perform full replacement and adjustment of components, including bearings, motors, reducers, belts, photoelectric cells, and pushbuttons., • Perform general troubleshooting of electrical components such as motor control panels (MCPs), local functional electrical switch boxes, variable frequency drives (VFDs), automatic tag readers (ATRs), belt shaft encoders, and general wiring., • At least 2+ years of mechanical work experience in an industrial or similar environment., • At least 1+ year of basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience., • Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and basic mechanical schematics., • Ability to perform general troubleshooting of electrical components, including motor control panels (MCPs), local functional electrical switch boxes, variable frequency drives (VFDs), automatic tag readers (ATRs), belt shaft encoders, and general wiring., • Proficiency in performing full replacement and adjustment of components such as bearings, motors, reducers, belts (replacement and repair), belt tensioning and tracking, photoelectric cells, and pushbuttons., • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in preventative maintenance and repair in an industrial or service environment., • Ability to work safely around moving equipment and electrical systems while following established safety procedures., • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate., • Experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial, airport, or baggage handling system environment is beneficial., • Experience in mechanical maintenance, preventive maintenance, and industrial service work., • Ability to analyze situations and communicate clearly with technicians and supervisory staff., • Comfort working with tools and hand tools in a fast-paced, operational setting. Work Environment This role operates in an active airport environment around moving equipment, electrical systems, and baggage handling machinery. You will work in a variety of conditions, including small, high, dirty, and hot spaces, and you will frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the day. The position requires regular use of ladders, steep industrial stairs, narrow walkways, and industrial catwalks. You will frequently lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Work is hands-on and physically demanding, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to airport security and access requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr.
