About KIPP NYC College Prep High School: In August 2009, KIPP NYC College Prep High School (CPHS) opened its doors to serve students graduating from KIPP middle schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, as well as other New York City students seeking a rigorous, college-preparatory high school program. KIPP NYC College Prep builds on the key elements of their successful elementary and middle schools, including more time in school, a focus on student achievement, highly qualified and committed faculty, and a school culture that supports success in learning. Located in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, CPHS currently educates over 2,000 students in grades 9–12 across two locations. Over 90% of students enroll in at least one type of rigorous academic offering, including 16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, 17 Dual Enrollment courses, and 13 Honors courses. In addition to a wide range of electives and over 25 clubs, the school offers 13 varsity and junior varsity sports programs. CPHS also provides a comprehensive college and career counseling department to ensure students engage in enriching summer programming, develop individual career plans, prepare fully for the SAT, and enroll in a college or career pathway that meets their interests, abilities, and financial needs. Since its founding, 99% of CPHS students have graduated from high school, 91% have matriculated to a 2- or 4-year college, and 49% have earned a college degree within six or more years. New for 2026-2027: Our high school will expand to an additional facility beginning in 2026–2027, transitioning into a Lower School and Upper School model! Students will select an industry concentration aligned with their interests and goals, focusing their studies in grades 11–12 on that pathway. The new building, located just a seven-minute walk from our current state-of-the-art campus at 75 Canal St. West, will feature 40 classrooms, eight state-of-the-art science labs, double gymnasiums, a commercial kitchen and food prep space, a cafetorium with an outdoor patio, a 10,000 sq. ft. rooftop play space, and dedicated dance, art, music, health, weight, and cardio rooms. Job Description Position Overview: The Manager of Community Affairs is responsible for managing and executing smooth family and student operations. This role will require good communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and multitasking skills, and analytical and problem-solving abilities. The Manager of Community Affairs ensures that family and student needs are effectively addressed, core student enrichment programs are executed as planned, and any additional community needs are met. The Manager of Community Affairs works in conjunction with the Operations team and reports directly to the Director of Community Affairs. Duties and Responsibilities: General responsibilities include (but are not limited to): • Acts as the manager of student and family programming, ensuring processes and events are successfully executed:, • Student Government, • Document student government process, • Work directly with students and leadership to communicate student requests in meetings, • Student event planning with student government and other student leaders, • Student Clubs and Organizations, • Manage and ensure student clubs are following club expectations, • Manage club budget, • Manage advisors of clubs and school organizations (club approvals, attendance, budgets, organization, fundraising, etc), • Student Community Service, • Manage community service projects for students, • Document protocols and guidelines for community service initiatives, • Advisory and Peer Leadership, • Work with Peer Leader Advisors in planning for weekly advisory lessons and grade level meetings, • Lead a peer leadership course with select student leaders, • Student Events, • Organize and execute student-led events such as senior events/prom/graduation, club events, grade-level reward activities and trips, and other student events, • Student and staff school photos - Work with photographers to schedule student and staff photos, • Manage School Store, • Oversee ordering and regulate school store, • Support Family Community Association, • Meet with the Director of Community Affairs to plan bi-weekly family meetings (share info with families about events that are happening in the school), • Planning family events, • Present for specific assigned daily duties, • Supports in ensuring that planned events are successfully executed, • Supports with family and student events, • Escalates concerns and challenges to the Director of Community Affairs in a timely manner, • Serve as a full-time and engaged member of the school staff, including accompanying students on field lessons (if needed), assisting with student enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of the school's mission.Qualifications, • Technical Skills, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, & computer literacy, • Internal data systems, the ability to analyze and use data to inform decisions and planning, • Proficiency in project management, • Building Relationships, • Responds appropriately to others within 24-48 hours, • Assumes the best in others’ intentions and abilities, • Makes others feel appreciated, supported, and valued, • Builds trusting relationships with peers, managers, direct reports, students, families, and community members., • Takes ownership of impact on self and others and adjusts accordingly (self-awareness and self-adjustment), • Proactively engages with stakeholders on difficult decisions, • Driving Results, • Recognizes strengths and areas of growth, looking for opportunities to gain experiences that support development in both, • Seeks clarification where lacking clear direction or is unsure of next steps, • Focuses on completing tasks and projects in a timely manner and within given guidelines, • Demonstrates resilience, flexibility, and innovation when necessary, • Creates monthly/quarterly work plans, • Uses feedback and data (both qualitative and quantitative) to continuously learn and adjust the course., • Maintains flexibility with shifting priorities and new projects, • Cultural Competence, • Understands that individuals with diverse backgrounds have varying expectations, norms, and communication styles., • Communicates and works effectively with those from diverse backgrounds., • Consistently considers cultural issues and concerns that may impact operational systems., • Considers cultural issues when responding to volatile situations., • Student Focus, • Seeks to understand students' needs and motivations, so decisions are made with their best interests in mind., • Communicates expectations that all students should be treated with respect., • Education and Experience, • Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years of relevant work experience, • At least 1 year of experience managing a small team and multiple complex projects, • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and competing priorities across multiple teams of people with meticulous attention to detail., • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the KIPP mission, with school-based experience strongly preferred. Additional Information Compensation and Benefits: For the Manager of Student Affairs position, KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $80,340 - $92,700. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band.
