Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description The Mechanical Assembler produces high-quality components by assembling mechanical parts and subassemblies and integrating intermediate-level electrical wiring into finished products. This role uses a variety of hand and power tools to mount, connect, and install components while following mechanical blueprints and assembly diagrams and maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area. Responsibilities • Assemble mechanical parts and subassemblies to produce finished components according to specifications., • Perform intermediate-level electrical wiring and integrate electrical wires into products., • Use hand tools such as crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, soldering tools, cements, and press-fit tools to assemble parts., • Mount assembled components, including transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets onto chassis and panels., • Connect component wires to circuits and route wires between individual component leads., • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies into cases, cabinets, and enclosures., • Position and align components and parts accurately prior to fastening or wiring., • Operate hand tools and machines to assemble, fasten, and secure parts and assemblies., • Conduct quality control checks to ensure assemblies meet specifications and standards., • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials., • Use torque drills, wrenches, ratchets, and other torque tools to tighten fasteners to specified requirements., • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints and mechanical assembly diagrams to guide assembly tasks., • Measure and verify dimensions using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools., • Perform basic repairs or rework on assemblies as needed based on inspection results., • Clean and maintain the work area, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient production environment. Essential Skills • Proficiency in mechanical assembly in a production or assembly line environment., • Intermediate-level experience with electrical wiring and integrating electrical wires into products., • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work from mechanical assembly diagrams and blueprints., • Ability to use various hand tools such as crimps, stakes, screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, and rivet tools., • Proficiency with power tools, including torque drills and other torque tools., • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure., • Capability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and assembly drawings., • Ability to perform basic quality control checks on assembled components., • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of regular duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working on an assembly line or in a high-volume production environment., • experience in repair or rework of mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies., • Familiarity with mounting and wiring electronic components such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, transistors, and integrated circuits., • Attention to detail and accuracy when aligning parts and routing wiring., • Strong organizational skills for preparing parts, tools, and materials before assembly., • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled production facility designed for comfort and consistent working conditions. Expect 10-hour shifts with weekend work for the time being, including mandatory 12-hour shifts and mandatory weekend shifts as required by production needs. Work is performed on or near assembly lines using a variety of hand and power tools, including torque drills, wrenches, ratchets, and other mechanical tools. The environment focuses on safety, cleanliness, and organization, with regular use of mechanical and electrical components, cabinets, and chassis in a manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
