Job Description Job Title: Food Service Worker Job Description The Food Service Worker will assist with assembling patient meals onto trays, restocking food items into grab and go areas, customer service, and other various tasks as needed. This role involves working in a fast-paced hospital cafeteria setting. Responsibilities • Prepare and assemble patient and visitor meal trays on the tray line according to dietary guidelines and physician orders., • Verify that each tray meets specific diet requirements, portion standards, and presentation expectations., • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals throughout the hospital., • Perform food preparation tasks such as portioning, plating, and assembling food items in a high-volume kitchen., • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the cafeteria, kitchen, and tray line areas, following housekeeping and sanitation standards., • Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food items., • Provide courteous, customer-focused service to patients, visitors, and staff in the cafeteria and food service areas., • Assist with general labor tasks such as stocking supplies, transporting food carts, and setting up or breaking down workstations., • Support hospitality standards by ensuring a positive dining experience and addressing basic customer needs and inquiries., • Work collaboratively with the food service team to meet production demands in a high-producing kitchen environment. Essential Skills • At least 2 years of experience working in a high-producing kitchen environment., • Demonstrated experience in food preparation and foodservice operations., • Strong order fulfillment skills with attention to accuracy and detail., • Ability to work efficiently on a tray line assembling multiple meal orders., • Customer service–oriented approach when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff., • Experience working in a cafeteria, hospitality, or similar food service setting., • Ability to maintain cleanliness and follow housekeeping and sanitation standards., • Capability to perform general labor tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment., • Reliable and steady work history demonstrating consistent employment and performance. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare food service setting is beneficial., • Familiarity with dietary guidelines and special diet requirements is an asset., • Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends and evening hours., • Comfort working as a kitchen helper or in other support roles within a food service team., • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with kitchen and service staff.
