Job DescriptionSalary: DOE THE POSITION: Responsible for providing front-of-house customer service, order processing, and food service support for the Tribes Food Truck or retail kitchen operations. This position manages customer interactions, point-of-sale transactions, and order coordination to support efficient kitchen operations. Incumbents work closely with the Line Cook and Lead Line Cook to ensure orders are entered accurately, prepared efficiently, and delivered to customers in a timely manner. The position helps maintain a positive customer experience while supporting a safe, clean, and organized food service environment. Based on operational needs, incumbents in this position may also be assigned to work in either the food truck or retail kitchen operations based on operational needs, allowing management flexibility to ensure appropriate staffing coverage. The incumbents are expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council. Please note these positions are to staff the Tribes food trucks and have multiple vacancies, both for full-time and part-time positions. These positions require flexible food service hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and community or entertainment-related events. Schedule flexibility is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties are not limited to the following: • Greet customers promptly and provide friendly and professional customer service;, • Explain menu items, daily specials, and available add-ons to customers;, • Accurately take customer orders and enter them into the point-of-sale (POS) system;, • Coordinate with the Line Cook and Lead Line Cook to ensure orders are prepared accurately and efficiently;, • Receive and process cash, debit, and credit card transactions accurately;, • Balance and maintain accountability for the cash drawer during assigned shifts;, • Assemble food orders and verify order accuracy before serving customers;, • Serve food items to customers in a courteous and timely manner;, • Maintain service counter areas including condiments, napkins, utensils, and beverage stations;, • Assist with light food preparation tasks as directed by kitchen staff;, • Support kitchen staff during high-volume service periods as needed;, • Set up tables, chairs, service stations, and customer seating areas for food truck events or service locations;, • Assist with food truck setup and breakdown, including equipment, serving areas, and supplies;, • Help organize food service areas for festivals, community events, and special gatherings;, • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of service areas and food truck windows;, • Follow all tribal, state, and Indian Health Services food safety regulations;, • Assist with inventory monitoring and notify management when supplies are low;, • Communicate customer concerns or operational issues to management;, • May assist with food preparation, stocking, or customer service duties within Tribal retail food service locations, including the Wintun Mini-Mart as assigned:, • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment, exchanges and returns, and security practices;, • Instruct customers on how to use self-serve equipment as needed;, • Communicate with management regarding guest or vendor requests or concerns; and, • May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: • Previous cashier, customer service, or food service experience preferred. Other Requirements: • Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment, for those hired to serve alcoholic beverages., • Must possess and maintain a Food Handlers Card or SERV Safe certification within the Tribes designated timeframe., • Valid California drivers license., • Must have the ability to work a changing schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends. SUPERVISORIAL DUTIES: None ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: • Strong customer service and communication skills;, • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment;, • Ability to correctly handle cash and other means of payment to process transactions;, • Ability to multitask and maintain order accuracy during busy service periods;, • Ability to work cooperatively with kitchen staff and team members;, • Ability to deal with difficult/demanding customers;, • Promote and support company image standards;, • Knowledge of food safety standards, including temperature control and sanitation;, • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced food service environment;, • Comply with company meals and rest break policies;, • Consistently report to work on time and in accordance with the assigned work schedule;, • Communicate with supervisors;, • Present a neat, clean appearance in uniform;, • Adhere to all Tribal, federal, and state regulations, including verifying age with a valid I.D. for any age-restricted sales;, • Follow the work schedule as posted, unless a change in schedule is arranged with the Retail Store Manager or designee;, • Stay familiar with the policies and safety protocols, and bulletins;, • Properly uses the time clock, signs a timecard verifying all hours worked at the end of the pay period;, • Work safely at all times and report all accidents immediately;, • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos;, • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: • Mobility and Dexterity: Incumbents in this class require stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling (e.g., sense of touch), and repetitive motion. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. • While performing the duties of this job, incumbents will work in high-pressure, fast-paced, and confined spaces (e.g., food truck). Requires working in varied weather conditions and during nights/weekends., • Work may occur in mobile food truck environments, retail convenience store-food areas, outdoor service areas, or event locations., • The noise level in the work environment is usually above moderate., • Work schedules may vary at any time, as required by business operations, be adjusted for definite or indefinite periods of time to increase, decrease, or otherwise change any non-exempt employees daily, weekly, and/or shift hours of work and/or the days an employee will report for work., • Incumbents in this class may be subject to disruptive and confrontational people. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Drug Test and Background Checks: Will be subject to pre-employment drug testing, background checks before appointment, and random drug testing during employment. Hours of Work: Incumbents will be required to work weekends, holidays, irregular hours, and after normal business hours, as a common practice for those who work in the retail industry.
