Job Description The Assistant Slot Shift Manager supports the Shift Manager – Slots in overseeing the daily operations of the Slot Department during assigned shifts. This position assists in ensuring exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and team member performance across the slot floor. The Assistant Slot Shift Manager provides leadership and operational support to Slot Floor Supervisors and Slot Attendants while helping maintain the integrity and profitability of slot operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists in supervising daily slot operations to ensure adherence to 4-Star/4-Diamond guest service standards., • Supports the coordination of slot floor activities and communication with other departments during assigned shifts., • Assists in resolving guest concerns, machine issues, and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner., • Monitors slot floor coverage, machine functionality, and team member productivity., • Ensures compliance with internal controls, Title 31 procedures, gaming regulations, and company policies., • Assists with documenting and reporting slot irregularities, guest disputes, and operational incidents., • Supports floor supervisors and slot attendants through coaching, training, and daily operational guidance., • Reviews and completes shift documentation, incident reports, and operational logs as assigned., • Assists in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards throughout the slot floor., • Helps coordinate guest service initiatives and player engagement efforts., • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists with supervising Slot Floor Supervisors and Slot Attendants during assigned shifts., • Participates in team member training, coaching, scheduling, and performance evaluations., • Reinforces company grooming, attendance, and conduct standards., • Assists management with coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions when necessary., • Promotes a positive, productive, and guest-focused work environment., • Helps ensure a safe and compliant workplace for team members and guests. QUALIFICATIONS: • Working knowledge of slot machine operations, slot systems, and casino floor procedures., • Familiarity with slot auditing procedures, jackpot processes, and machine troubleshooting., • Proficient in PC-based software programs and slot management systems., • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills., • Ability to multitask and make sound decisions in a fast-paced casino environment., • Excellent guest service and conflict-resolution abilities., • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactions.. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or equivalent preferred., • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred., • Additional training or certification in gaming operations or leadership is a plus., • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in slot operations, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or shift management role., • Proven ability to oversee slot floor activities, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead team members during assigned shifts., • Strong knowledge of slot systems, machine functions, floor layouts, and player engagement strategies., • Experience handling guest issues, operational incidents, and team coordination in a fast-paced environment., • Excellent communication, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills., • Prior experience in a casino or tribal gaming environment is required. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively in person, by phone, and over radio with slot staff, guests, security, surveillance, and other departments; responsible for directing personnel, resolving guest concerns, and maintaining smooth operational flow during assigned shifts., • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and transports paperwork, slot-related tools, signage, or minor equipment components weighing up to 30 pounds., • Manual Dexterity: Frequently uses hands and fingers to operate communication devices, complete shift reports, input data into slot management systems, and handle administrative documents., • Mobility: Continuously walks and stands for extended periods throughout the casino floor to supervise operations, observe machine activity, respond to service calls, and support staff coverage., • Stationary Work: Occasionally remains seated for brief periods while completing reports, shift documentation, or attending to administrative tasks in a back-office setting., • Tool Operation: Regular use of slot operations software, handheld radios, floor tracking tools, and standard office equipment; may occasionally interact with machine interfaces or monitoring devices., • Visual Acuity: Requires strong near and far vision to monitor guest activity, review machine statuses, inspect payout documentation, and oversee slot performance across the floor., • Working Conditions: Routinely operates on a busy, high-traffic casino floor with exposure to loud noise, flashing lights, crowds, and a smoking environment throughout the shift. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions. WORKING HOURS: Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
