Job Description FOOD SAFETY & OPERATIONAL SUPPORT POSITION SUMMARY The Food Safety & Operational Support role is responsible for supporting and strengthening food safety systems, regulatory compliance, operational consistency, and documentation practices across all company manufacturing facilities. This position serves as a key resource for maintaining audit readiness, supporting plant leadership teams, improving communication between facilities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives company-wide. This role is heavily focused on food safety leadership and compliance while also supporting operational organization, process consistency, accountability, and cross-functional coordination. The position works closely with production, warehouse, sanitation, maintenance, and leadership teams to ensure food safety programs and operational practices are effectively implemented and maintained. This position is based primarily in Kansas City and provides support to additional facilities in Atlanta, GA and Hot Springs, AR. The role offers opportunity for future growth into leadership and management responsibilities as the company continues to expand. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Food Safety & Compliance Support • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of food safety and quality systems across all facilities., • Serve as a primary support resource for SQF, HACCP, FSMA, GMP, FDA, USDA, PCQI, Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO Project Verified, and customer compliance requirements., • Assist with development, review, validation, and maintenance of HACCP plans and Preventive Controls programs., • Coordinate and support internal audits, third-party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections., • Conduct facility inspections and assist with corrective and preventive action follow-up., • Support traceability, recall readiness, allergen control, supplier approval, sanitation verification, and food defense programs., • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, and food safety concerns while assisting with root cause analysis and corrective actions., • Maintain food safety documentation, records, and audit readiness across all facilities. Operational Support & Multi-Site Coordination • Support operational consistency and communication between facilities in Kansas City, Atlanta, and Hot Springs., • Assist plant leadership teams with implementation and maintenance of SOPs, documentation practices, and compliance procedures., • Identify opportunities for process improvements related to food safety, organization, documentation, and operational efficiency., • Help monitor food safety and operational compliance metrics across facilities., • Support cross-functional communication between production, warehouse, sanitation, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams., • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational support projects., • Conduct periodic site visits to support training, audits, implementation efforts, and facility needs. Training & Team Support • Assist with development and delivery of food safety, GMP, HACCP, allergen, sanitation, and compliance training programs., • Promote a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization., • Support leadership teams with compliance expectations, documentation standards, and food safety best practices., • Provide support during audits, customer reviews, investigations, and compliance-related activities. Documentation & Technical Support • Maintain organized and accurate documentation systems including SOPs, corrective actions, audit findings, specifications, and regulatory records., • Support customer documentation requests, ingredient statements, nutritional information, specifications, and technical documentation., • Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations related to food safety and operational support initiatives., • Maintain confidentiality of company and customer proprietary information. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree preferred; preferably in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Operations, or related field., • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in food manufacturing, food safety, quality systems, or regulatory compliance preferred., • Prior experience with SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, or food safety systems strongly preferred., • Experience supporting audits, corrective actions, documentation systems, or operational processes preferred., • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across multiple facilities and departments., • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized records and documentation. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES • Knowledge of food safety systems and regulatory compliance requirements., • Ability to assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions., • Strong communication and relationship-building skills., • Strong organizational and analytical abilities., • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). CERTIFICATIONS (PREFERRED) • HACCP Certification, • PCQI Certification, • SQF Practitioner Training, • FSMA or GFSI training certifications TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Periodic travel to company facilities in Atlanta, GA and Hot Springs, AR may be required to support audits, training, implementation projects, and operational support initiatives. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position operates in both office and food manufacturing environments. The role requires periodic work in production, warehouse, and processing areas and may involve exposure to temperature changes, noise, machinery, wet conditions, and food manufacturing environments. Appropriate PPE is required when working in plant areas.
