Position Summary: The General Superintendent provides overall field leadership and operational oversight across multiple large-scale Data Center construction projects. This role is responsible for driving project execution excellence by ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and productivity while fostering strong collaboration among project teams, trade partners, and clients. The General Superintendent serves as a key leader in translating the client's core values into consistent field performance and mentoring future construction leaders. Key Responsibilities: Safety Leadership: • Champion the client's “Safety First” culture across all assigned projects., • Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety plans., • Lead by example through visible field presence, safety walks, toolbox talks, and incident prevention strategies., • Partner with Safety Managers to proactively identify risks and implement corrective actions. Project Oversight & Execution: • Provide direct oversight and leadership for multiple project superintendents and field teams., • Ensure construction activities align with contract documents, schedules, budgets, and quality standards., • Oversee development and execution of project logistics plans, phasing strategies, and site utilisation., • Monitor project milestones and proactively resolve constructability, sequencing, and manpower challenges. Schedule & Productivity Management: • Collaborate with project teams to develop and maintain master schedules and short-interval plans., • Ensure effective coordination of subcontractor work, material deliveries, and inspections., • Drive accountability for production goals and continuous improvement in field productivity., • Identify schedule risks early and implement recovery strategies when necessary. Quality Control: • Ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the client's standards, design documents, and client expectations., • Lead quality planning efforts, including inspections, mock-ups, and first-work-in-place reviews., • Address quality issues promptly and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented. Team Leadership & Development: • Mentor, coach, and develop Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and field staff., • Promote a collaborative, respectful, and high-performance team environment., • Participate in staffing plans, performance evaluations, and succession planning for field leadership., • Support the client's commitment to workforce development, diversity, and inclusion. Client & Stakeholder Relations: • Serve as a senior field representative of the client with owners, architects, engineers, and inspectors., • Support positive client relationships through professionalism, transparency, and responsiveness., • Participate in key meetings and contribute to client satisfaction and repeat business. Preconstruction & Continuous Improvement: • Provide field expertise during preconstruction, including constructability reviews, logistics planning, and schedule development., • Share lessons learned and best practices across projects and regions., • Support company initiatives related to Lean construction, technology adoption, and process improvement. Qualifications: Required: • Minimum 10+ years of experience in commercial construction, with significant experience on large, complex projects., • Proven leadership experience as a Senior Superintendent or General Superintendent for a general contractor., • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods across multiple market sectors (e.g., data centers, healthcare, commercial, industrial, higher education)., • Thorough understanding of safety regulations, scheduling, quality control, and subcontractor management., • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Preferred: • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously., • Familiarity with Lean construction principles and advanced scheduling tools., • Proficiency with construction technology platforms (e.g., Procore, scheduling software)., • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Physical & Travel Requirements: • Ability to regularly walk job sites, climb ladders, and navigate active construction environments., • Travel to project sites as required, potentially including extended assignments.
