The Opportunity We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with experience in estate planning, probate, guardianship, and real estate law to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, manage a diverse caseload, appear in court, and collaborate closely with a supportive legal team. Our firm supports: • Full-time or part-time remote work options, • Flexible scheduling, • A supportive environment that respects family commitments and personal priorities, • A collaborative team culture that values trust, accountability, and autonomy What You'll Do The Associate Attorney will manage a mix of transactional, litigation, and court-supervised matters while supporting the firm’s estate planning, probate, guardianship, and real estate practice areas. Responsibilities include: • Advise clients on estate planning strategies, asset distribution, estate taxes, and related matters, • Drafting estate plans and trusts, • Guide clients through probate proceedings in Travis and Williamson Counties, including dependent and independent administrations, • Assist clients through guardianship proceedings and related court requirements, • Draft pleadings, court filings, and correspondence, • Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, motions, and other litigation documents, • Handle probate and guardianship accountings and other court-required reporting, • Draft and negotiate real estate documents, including leases, amendments, and transactional agreements, • Assist with residential and commercial real estate acquisitions, including negotiation, financing, and closing, • Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and motion practice, • Conduct written discovery, depositions, and other litigation-related activities, • Identify and assess legal risks in documentation, transactions, and court filings, • Maintain organized caseloads while meeting all internal and court deadlines, • Develop strong client relationships to support long-term retention and referrals, • Participate in business development efforts, including networking and consultations with prospective clients, • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure high-quality client service and efficient case management Qualifications • Minimum 2 years of experience in estate planning, probate, guardianship, and/or real estate law, • Experience with transactional work, litigation, and court-supervised matters, • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents, • Familiarity with probate procedures in Travis and Williamson Counties preferred, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CLIO, e-filing systems, and legal database platforms, • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities, • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, • Commitment to providing thoughtful, client-focused legal services, • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality Education • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas What We Value At Sheehan Law, we believe great legal work happens in a collaborative and supportive environment.
