Details • 29-bed Neurosurgery ICU at a 874-bed Level 1 Trauma and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital in Charlotte, NC, • Patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injuries, seizures/status epilepticus, spinal cord injuries, post-op craniotomies (direct from OR), IR patients (direct from procedure), and TNK administration — with some off-service trauma and medical ICU patients, • Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2; occasional 1:3 assignment possible for patients with downgrade orders, • EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips, • Unit-specific equipment includes Arctic Sun (targeted temperature management), Vigilance Monitor, CRRT, and ICP monitoring/EVD drains, • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a (1845–0715), 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), • No on-call requirements, • Floating to adult critical care units as needed (MICU, STICU, Dixon Heart, CTICU) and PCU at a max 1:3 ratioRequirements, • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of adult ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Epic EMR experience required, • Proficiency in EVD management, ICP monitoring, ventilator management, vasoactive drip management, tracheostomy care, central line maintenance, and post-procedure monitoring for TNK and IR patients, • Must have completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignment (first-time travelers not accepted), • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted), • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional Information, • Responsibilities include neurocritical care nursing across a high-acuity patient population, including approximately 50% of TNK administrations performed on the unit rather than in the ED, • CRRT exposure is possible; travelers comfortable and competent with CRRT may be assigned those patients, • Departmental support includes a supervisor, stroke response nurse, clinical educator, free-floating charge nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 intensivist/NP/PA coverage from the Neurocritical Care Team, PT/OT/ST seven days a week, and case management/social work, • Orientation includes a facility NEO session followed by approximately 2 days of departmental orientation based on skillset and comfort level, • A clinical interview with the manager is required, • Travelers are expected to cover 75% of holidays, • Time off requests require manager approval, • Scrub color: Navy Blue, • Parking is complimentary, • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible American Traveler Job ID #P-712822.
