Job Description Facilities Maintenance Technician The Facilities Maintenance Technician provides routine and specialized building repair and maintenance support for hospital facilities, equipment, and properties. This role uses a computerized maintenance management system to identify, diagnose, and correct issues across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and control systems, ensuring a safe, reliable, and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities • Perform routine and specialized maintenance and repair on hospital buildings, equipment, and properties using a computerized maintenance management system., • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct mechanical system issues, including pumps, belt-driven equipment, gear reduction drives, piping, and valves, and perform diagnosis and replacement as needed., • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing components used for water distribution and wastewater disposal., • Install, test, maintain, and diagnose electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, fixtures, components, and systems to ensure safe and reliable operation., • Maintain and troubleshoot control systems, including sensors, limit switches, solenoids, motors, and related components., • Provide technical support and general guidance to facility staff in the repair and operation of facility equipment, utilities, and building systems., • Perform general building and facilities maintenance tasks, including HVAC systems, cooling towers, air handlers, lighting, pneumatics, carpentry, and other mechanical services., • Conduct preventive maintenance on facility systems and equipment to reduce downtime and extend asset life., • Use computerized systems to document work orders, maintenance activities, and repair histories accurately and efficiently., • Participate in hospital and departmental safety programs, following all safety procedures and regulations., • Attend educational opportunities and related training to maintain and enhance technical knowledge and skills., • Collaborate effectively with team members and other hospital departments to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks., • Work independently with minimal supervision to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions., • Support building automation systems and general maintenance of facility infrastructure., • Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies during nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Essential Skills • Proficiency in using computerized systems for all aspects of job performance, including maintenance management and documentation., • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and utility systems in a facilities environment., • Strong mechanical aptitude and proven problem-solving skills., • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation., • Experience with electrical systems, including installation, testing, maintenance, and diagnosis of wiring, equipment, fixtures, and components., • Experience with plumbing systems, including installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and wastewater distribution and disposal systems., • Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, including air handlers, cooling towers, and general HVAC maintenance and repair., • Knowledge of control systems, including sensors, limit switches, solenoids, motors, and related components., • Ability to work effectively unsupervised and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment., • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills., • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a regular schedule and to support overtime needs., • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building automation systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with facility maintenance and building maintenance in a healthcare or similar critical environment., • Background in general maintenance, carpentry, and mechanical services within large facilities., • Familiarity with building automation systems and HVAC controls., • Experience with pneumatics and lighting systems maintenance., • Ability to provide technical guidance and support to other facility staff., • Comfort working with service and maintenance repair tasks across multiple trades., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety programs and procedures., • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to keep skills current. Work Environment This role is based inside a hospital environment, working directly with critical building and facility systems. You work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, on an overnight shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. You must be able to work weekends and holidays and be prepared for a significant amount of overtime when needed. The setting involves active hospital operations, where adherence to safety procedures, reliability, and responsiveness are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
