The Highlights: Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager guides and performs advanced level accounting and audit work related to the financial operations of the university. The manager oversees the Financial Accounting department, from a general operations and strategic direction standpoint, ensuring the needs of university wide stakeholders are being met in an effective and efficient manner. The manager supervises a staff of 5 to 7 individuals who are responsible for reconciliations, analyses, reporting, and daily data processing and monitoring. The manager ensures that the accounts that are assigned to their area are being reconciled in an accurate and timely fashion, staff is cross trained, processes are documented, and systems are functioning and effective. The manager works with various departments throughout the university in determining, implementing or modifying processes to ensure compliance with GAAP, university policies, applicable tax regulations, and other various external requirements.
