The ideal candidate will perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory procedures requiring technical skill, independent judgment, and decision-making. Responsibilities also include phlebotomy, specimen accessioning, quality control, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and accurate result reporting. \n Key Responsibilities\n \n • Perform routine and specialized diagnostic testing according to established laboratory policies and procedures.\n, • Verify specimen integrity, prioritize workload, evaluate and interpret test results, and take appropriate action.\n, • Perform quality control, proficiency testing, and maintain accurate documentation.\n, • Operate laboratory instrumentation and perform instrument QC, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.\n, • Perform patient phlebotomy and specimen accessioning as needed.\n, • Utilize Cerner/STAR for test ordering, receiving, canceling, result verification, and follow-up of pending tests.\n, • Review and verify laboratory results for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.\n, • Assist with evaluation and implementation of new methods and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.\n, • Support CAP inspections and regulatory compliance activities.\n, • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals.\n, • Maintain strict patient and work-related confidentiality.\n, • Follow all laboratory, hospital, safety, and compliance policies.\n Required Qualifications\n \n, • ASCP, ASCPi, NCA, or AMT certification as an MT, MLS, or MLT.\n, • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related bachelor's degree with required prerequisite coursework and clinical training.\n, • Candidates qualifying through an approved alternate education/training route recognized by ASCP, NCA, or AMT may be considered.\n, • Experience operating laboratory instrumentation.\n, • Patient phlebotomy experience required.\n, • Strong organizational, communication, and technical skills.\n, • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.\n, • Must maintain strict confidentiality.\n Preferred Experience\n \n, • Experience with Cerner/STAR laboratory information systems.\n, • Experience with quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting.\n, • Previous experience in a hospital or high-volume clinical laboratory environment.\n \n \n Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist Location: Charleston, SC 29401 Assignment: 14 Weeks Shift: Evening Shift | 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM Schedule: 5x8-hour shifts | Rotating weekends, every other weekend required Hours: 40 hours/week About PRIDE Health\n \n PRIDE Health is the minority-owned healthcare recruitment division of Pride Global—an integrated human capital solutions and advisory firm.
