Job Summary The Production Engineering Lead is a working technical leader responsible for day-to-day production engineering support and optimization of operated assets. This role leads production engineering activities related to well performance, artificial lift, production optimization, workover engineering, and plug and abandonment (P&A) engineering operations, while also supervising production engineers and technicians. The position is accountable for identifying and executing value-enhancing opportunities, supporting safe and compliant operations, managing engineering workflows and priorities, and providing technical and economic justification for interventions and projects. This role is expected to remain hands-on in engineering analysis, problem solving, planning, and execution support, while building a high-performing engineering. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Lead production engineering efforts to optimize well performance, reduce downtime, and maximize asset value across the operated portfolio., • Oversee and improve artificial lift strategy, design, troubleshooting, and performance for applicable lift systems., • Identify, evaluate, and execute workover, recompletion, and intervention opportunities, including engineering design, economic justification, AFE preparation, and post-job review., • Oversee P&A engineering activities, including candidate selection, planning, cost estimating, procedure development, and regulatory support., • Provide technical and economic analysis to support production forecasting, operating cost management, budgeting, and capital allocation decisions., • Supervise production engineers and technicians by setting priorities, reviewing work, mentoring team members, and driving accountability and development., • Lead, mentor, and develop production engineering staff and engineering technicians., • Establish clear goals and performance expectations for the team., • Develop work plans, schedules, and priorities for engineering support across producing assets., • Participate in hiring, training, and performance management for assigned personnel. Education: • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to develop engineers and technical staff., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives., • Strong problem-solving skills and sound engineering judgment., • Ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, reservoir, geology, finance, and regulatory functions., • Sound knowledge of production engineering concepts—including well surveillance, production optimization, RTA Analysis and intervention, • Understanding/ application of ECMC, BLM, UDOGM rules and regulations, • Experience with cost analysis, variances, budgeting, and economics, • Competency in writing well work procedures and knowledge of infrastructure and facility operations, • Proven record of engineering leadership to identify opportunities and improve operations in terms of safety, integrity, and reliability, • Achieved or are pursuing a Professional registration, strongly preferred. The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $191,000 and $252,000 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location. Work Environment: This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside an office space wherein employees may be provided a public workstation (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered. Physical Demands: In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position. Position Type and Working Hours: This is a full-time position. Core work hours are from 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 8:00am – 12:00pm on Friday. Employees must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours. Travel: Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
