Job Description JOB SUMMARY: The objective of the Quality Management System (QMS) Manager in a manufacturing plant is to develop, implement, maintain, and continually improve the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, AWS, and other industry standards for Integrated Metal Products. This role involves leading, training, and supporting all departments in key areas: • QMS Management: Overseeing and improving the Quality Management System, managing audits, analyzing quality performance, and collaborating with various departments to address quality issues., • QA Team Leadership: Leading and managing the Quality Assurance team., • Continuous Improvement: Driving initiatives for ongoing quality and process improvements., • Training and Support: Providing training and support to various departments to ensure compliance and quality excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Own, maintain, and continually improve the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, including procedures, records, metrics, audits, and management review inputs., • Manage quality support for production, including receiving, in-process, final, FAIR/FAT, and customer-required inspections., • Lead root cause analysis, corrective action, preventive action, containment, verification of effectiveness, and recurrence-prevention activities., • Ensure documented information, drawing revisions, redlines, work instructions, inspection records, and controlled forms are current, approved, available, and followed at point of use., • Maintain calibration control for measuring and monitoring equipment, including recall, status identification, records, and out-of-tolerance response., • Supervise, train, coach, and hold quality personnel accountable for inspection accuracy, documentation discipline, safety, 5S, and response time., • Support supplier quality, incoming material issues, RMAs, supplier corrective actions, and supplier performance feedback., • Track and report quality KPIs such as NCRs, rework, scrap, FPY, customer complaints, audit findings, calibration status, and corrective action aging., • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling, and Project Management to resolve quality issues without bypassing formal change control., • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce defects, rework, delays, and customer escapes. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Interpret blueprints, specifications, tolerances, GD&T, work orders, procedures, and customer requirements for quality acceptance decisions., • Perform or support manual layout inspection of metal fabricated components, weldments, machined parts, and assemblies when required., • Ensure quality documentation is complete, accurate, legible, retained, and retrievable per company and customer requirements., • Conduct internal process audits, layered audits, product audits, and follow-up audits to verify sustained compliance., • Communicate quality risks, production holds, escapes, and escalation items to leadership in a timely and factual manner., • Support training and qualification needs related to inspection methods, QMS procedures, revised drawings, work instructions, and special customer requirements., • Follow and enforce company safety policies, quality control policies, 5S practices, and work-area organization standards., • Use common sense and sound judgment to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized and non-standardized situations., • Maintain professional cross-functional relationships and support change management through documented communication and evidence-based decisions., • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Education level: High School Diploma/GED required; associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent quality/manufacturing leadership experience preferred., • Experience: Quality leadership experience in welding, fabrication, machining, assembly, or metal manufacturing preferred., • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and practical QMS implementation., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, tolerances, welding symbols, dimensional requirements, and GD&T., • Ability to calibrate, verify, and use mechanical precision inspection devices, layout, or advanced inspection experience preferred., • Root cause, corrective action, problem-solving, audit, and continuous improvement experience required., • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and quality/ERP documentation systems; Global Shop Solutions experience helpful., • Strong math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate ratios, percentages, rates, and interpret charts or graphs., • Detail-oriented, organized, self-directed, and capable of completing projects with limited direction., • Must be able to follow and enforce company safety and quality control policies and procedures., • Must be a team player, receptive to change, and willing to support cross-functional training., • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including overtime when business needs require., • IMP is a drug-free workplace. WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear., • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds., • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus., • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, electrical shock risk, and vibration., • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and/or extreme cold and extreme heat., • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
