Job Description Mechanical Assembly Technician (Hybrid Workshop and Office Role) Job Description This role combines hands-on mechanical assembly of custom conveyor systems with office-based administrative and customer support tasks. You will build, test, and prepare conveyors and parts for shipment while also handling quoting, order processing, and system updates. This position is ideal for someone versatile, detail-oriented, and able to work independently within a small, growing team. Responsibilities • Assemble custom conveyors based on blueprints and drawings, including base, width, and length dimensions., • Use hand tools and power tools to perform mechanical assembly tasks safely and accurately., • Test conveyors and individual parts to ensure proper fit, function, and quality before shipment., • Pack, tag, and book finished products into the system and prepare them for shipment., • Pack and ship individual parts and components as required., • Perform inventory tasks and stock control when not actively building conveyors., • Assist customers by answering questions, providing information, and supporting their orders., • Update system records accurately to reflect orders, inventory, and shipment details., • Prepare quotes for conveyors and parts and process customer orders through the system., • Operate workshop equipment such as metal shears, grinders, and saws in a safe and efficient manner., • Operate a forklift for material handling, following training and safety guidelines., • Adapt to a variety of duties and support both workshop and office functions as needed., • Ability to perform mechanical tasks and mechanical assembly work., • Experience using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly., • Ability to follow and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics., • Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and assembly-related issues., • Familiarity with metalworking tools such as metal shears, grinders, and saws, or willingness to learn., • Ability to perform wiring tasks associated with conveyor assembly as needed., • Forklift operation experience or willingness to obtain training and certification., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for basic administrative and documentation tasks., • Ability to work independently and manage both workshop and back-office responsibilities., • Willingness to learn new mechanical tools, including grinders and other workshop equipment., • Willingness to learn software programs used for quoting, order processing, and system updates., • No welding, milling, or heavy equipment experience required, making this suitable for candidates with general mechanical aptitude., • Interest in growing into supervisory responsibilities as the team expands., • Comfort reading and working from mechanical schematics and technical documentation. Work Environment You will work in a small manufacturing facility as part of a very small team, which will grow to two employees with this hire. The role is hybrid in nature, with time split between workshop assembly tasks and office-based administrative work. You will use hand tools, power tools, metal shears, grinders, saws, and other mechanical equipment, as well as computer systems and software for quoting, order processing, and record updates. Forklift operation may be part of your daily activities, with training provided if needed. The environment is supportive and dynamic, with occasional overtime required to meet project or shipment deadlines and a strong focus on safety, quality, and professional development. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
