Job Description We are seeking a dependable, nurturing, and detail-oriented early childhood professional to serve in a hybrid role as a Toddler Teacher and Site Closer. This dual-responsibility role includes providing high-quality care and education to toddlers during the afternoon hours, followed by overseeing the closing of the center. The ideal candidate is passionate about early learning, has strong communication and leadership skills, and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff. Key Responsibilities: Toddler Teaching Responsibilities: * Provide a warm, responsive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for toddlers. * Plan and implement learning activities and imaginative play using a variety of engaging materials and teaching methods. * Attend to children’s basic needs including feeding, dressing, and diapering. * Observe and assess each child’s development and behavior; communicate concerns to the Director and families as appropriate. * Collaborate with families through regular communication, conferences, and shared goal-setting. * Maintain accurate student records and daily reports in compliance with licensing and organizational standards. * Create engaging indoor and outdoor environments that support safety, creativity, and motor development. * Enforce school policies and procedures with consistency and care. * Support new arrivals by helping children transition smoothly into the classroom routine. * Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Site Closing Responsibilities: * Supervise the closing of all classrooms and common areas; ensure all children are safely picked up and proper child-to-staff ratios are maintained. * Provide direct care and supervision to children remaining near close. * Greet parents warmly and verify authorized pick-up through established protocols. * Oversee and assist with daily cleaning and sanitation duties, including: * Wiping surfaces, sanitizing toys, vacuuming, sweeping/mopping floors * Emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, washing dishes, and managing food storage * Assign end-of-day tasks to closing staff, ensure timely completion, and verify staff clock out appropriately. * Secure the building by locking windows and doors, shutting down lights/equipment, and setting alarms. * Communicate any incidents, facility issues, or staffing concerns to the Center Director. Qualifications: * High school diploma or GED required; CDA or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. * Previous experience in a licensed childcare setting, ideally with toddlers. * Strong knowledge of child development principles and best practices. * Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members. * Must be dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented. * Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical duties related to childcare and cleaning. * Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). * Meets all state and local licensing requirements.
