Job Description The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for constructing/assembling mechanical parts and components to create new products according to client specifications, following blueprints and schematics to ensure correct build and quality. Additionally, this position performs diagnostic tests on assembled items and conducts adjustments when needed to make sure the final product functions efficiently and effectively. Roles and Responsibilities: Assembly Knowledge- • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in mechanical assembly within the automation and manufacturing industry., • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical assembly prints, pneumatic drawings and blueprints., • Comprehensive knowledge of mounting gearboxes, drive gears, servo motors and air cylinders for proper alignment and function., • Knowledge of precision measuring equipment: laser levels, calipers, micrometers, height gauge, machinist level, gauge blocks/pins and dial indicators., • Strong knowledge of manual mill and lathe with the ability to manufacture and modify parts efficiently, • Expertise in identifying, debugging, and troubleshooting issues in a timely manner., • Understanding different types of hardware and their uses and strength grades., • Effectively identify and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner., • Perform and lead debug activities during machine build, working with engineers and technicians to identify root causes and implement corrective actions., • Utilizing technical documentation (schematics, drawings, specifications, etc.), as well as hand tools (screwdrivers, soldering guns, drills, etc.), assemble, inspect, modify, and install (as required) mechanical components, framework, and tooling mechanisms, etc. that will be incorporated into machine assembly for clients., • Occasional mechanical rework of parts (cutting, grinding, drilling, tapping, etc.) may be required to complete assigned tasks., • Perform all assigned tasks in a limited amount of time while following quality limits and safety practices., • Conduct quality control checks to ensure products align with company and client standards., • Troubleshoot problems with equipment and/or components to determine proper operation or need for adjustments or replacement., • Maintain detailed records of a product’s development process, including but not limited to changes to construction documentation to reflect machine ‘as built.’, • Utilize E-Plan, a necessary, to add notes/adjustments, etc. (re-line) to reflect any changes/additions, etc., • Alter/adjust as-built schematic drawings for mechanical changes and provide to engineering department for updates., • Collaborate with colleagues (technicians, engineers, etc.) to create cohesive and effective products., • Identify and suggest productivity and/or quality improvements to supervisors and/or engineers., • Acts as a debug leader, providing directions to other technicians during troubleshooting and machine commissioning., • Participates with team to set and reach higher goals in execution of tasks and in gaining work-related knowledge., • Participates in strategy sessions with team to determine new or enhanced approaches for systems and processes that will enhance and improve customer experience and results., • Models development by continuously learning and applying new information about work-related knowledge and administrative activities., • Participates in formal continuing education through coursework, workshops, seminars, etc. that are approved and recommended by management, as well as are applicable areas in the field, including materials, processes, and methods., • Empowers others to always strive to do their best, set and reach higher goals, and maintain a continual attitude toward growing and gaining knowledge., • Attends and participates in team and/or company-wide meetings as required. Abilities Required (training, education, certifications, methods of task implementation): • 10+ years of proven experience in mechanical assembly within the automation and manufacturing industry., • Expertise in debug and troubleshooting methods, acting as a technical leader in this area., • Proven experience in mechanical assembly within the automation and manufacturing industry., • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, cross-functional environment., • Has a working knowledge of client standards and preferences., • Strong math abilities., • Ability to utilize basic computer tasks/functions (email, file directories, e drawings, etc.)., • Ability to utilize basic Google products (calendar, email, Google Plus, etc.)., • Capable of passing test to operate a forklift. Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift at least 50-75 lbs., • Ability to stand and/or sit a minimum of four hours at a time, using hands and arms to finger/handle/reach/feel., • Ability to work on a computer/laptop occasionally as needed., • Ability to maneuver around a shop environment and inspect/observe complex machines, including but not limited to climbing and working from ladders, lifts, etc., • Ability to travel approximately one week at a time throughout the year., • Work environment is factory/warehouse facility that is climate controlled; noise level in the work environment is low to moderate or high (on occasion).
