Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Remington and Vernick is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a minimum of 8 years of experience in HVAC/mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems design, including fire alarm systems, to join our growing MEP team as a Project Manager/Engineer. This role involves overseeing projects from concept through construction, mentoring junior staff, and playing a key role in delivering high-quality engineering services for educational, commercial, and industrial facilities. This position will be involved in the planning, design, and documentation of mechanical systems for a variety of project types, including educational, commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate has a well-rounded mechanical background, strong technical fundamentals, and experience coordinating across disciplines. The role includes direct interaction with clients, architects, and project stakeholders and requires the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally. PRIMARY DUTIES: • Design and analysis of HVAC systems, including air distribution systems, mechanical equipment selection, and controls concepts, • Design of hydronic systems, including chilled water, hot water, condenser water, and associated piping systems, • Design and coordination of plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, specialty piping systems, and fixture layouts, • Working knowledge of fire protection systems and coordination with fire protection designers and disciplines, • Perform equipment and system sizing calculations, including load calculations and pipe/duct sizing, • Prepare complete construction documents, including drawings, schedules, details, specifications, and engineering calculations Serve as a client‑facing engineer, participating in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination calls * Communicate design intent, technical recommendations, and system options clearly to clients and project teams * Respond to client comments, agency reviews, RFIs, and contractor inquiries in a professional and timely manner * Collaborate with architects, owners, and internal project managers to support project goals, scope, and schedules * Represent the firm professionally in external meetings and during project execution * Support construction administration activities as required, including submittal and shop drawing reviews and site visits KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences * Demonstrate the ability to take projects from inception to completion • Detail Oriented Solid understanding of applicable codes and standards (e.g., IMC, IPC, NFPA, ASHRAE) * Proficiency with design and calculation software; AutoCAD experience required (Revit experience a plus) * Ability to work independently with general guidance from a Project Manager and meet project deliverables and schedules EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and experience 8+ years of relevant mechanical consulting engineering experience, including HVAC and plumbing design preferred CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED • Professional Engineering licensure required PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. The annual base salary range for this full-time position in the United States is $92,000 - $151,800. This range represents a good faith estimate and is based on factors such as the role, level, and geographic location. The range shown reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for this position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors including skills, experience, education, and training.
