Job Title: Accountant, Government Grant Billing Location: New York, NY (Hybrid; 3 days in, 2 days WFH) About: CFS is working with a non-profit organization in New York City dedicated to ending homelessness. They are looking to add an Accounting to their team in respect to government grant billing. • Focus: They primarily focus on developing and managing supportive housing, which combines affordable housing with on-site services like mental health counseling, job training, and case management., • Impact: They have created thousands of housing units across the city, providing stable homes for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, particularly those with mental illness, HIV/AIDS, and other challenges., • Mission: Their mission is to strengthen individuals and communities by providing high-quality housing and support services. About the Accountant, Government Grant Billing Role: Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team! In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely billing of government grants. You will be responsible for reviewing grant agreements, tracking expenditures, preparing complex invoices, and maintaining meticulous records. Key Responsibilities: • Review and interpret complex government grant agreements, including terms and conditions, allowable costs, and reporting requirements., • Track grant expenditures, ensuring compliance with budget and allowable cost guidelines., • Prepare accurate and timely invoices to government funding agencies, including supporting documentation., • Monitor grant budgets, identify potential budget variances, and proactively address any issues., • Maintain detailed records of all grant-related transactions and supporting documentation., • Prepare and submit required grant reports to funding agencies, ensuring compliance with all reporting deadlines and requirements., • Assist with grant audits and respond to any audit inquiries., • Stay abreast of changes in government grant regulations and funding opportunities., • Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting of program activities., • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, • 2+ years of experience in government grant accounting or a related field preferred, • Experience with government grant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., Uniform Guidance)., • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and vlookups., • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. #INJAN2025
