Position Summary: A Sr. Survey Technician is required to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of survey computations and field operations. The individual in this position is well versed with plan interpretation and preparation. The Senior Survey Technician possesses supervisory skills and a detailed working knowledge of standard construction field and office procedures. The Senior Survey Technician has knowledge of the principles of the profession and various technical standards. Work elements further describe the requirements related to this position. The candidate must be able to work independently from tentative to final projects. The candidate must know construction staking, boundary, topo and GPS experience is required. Leica machine control knowledge and experience also desirable. Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform topographic surveys of existing features., • Perform field surveying to obtain data for base plans, • Construction layout for all aspects of jobs, to include grading pavement, utilities, airfield and railroad rail., • Set up GPS calibration for dozers and grade checkers., • Set up site control for grade checkers and other surveyors., • Maintain and calibrate equipment to perform required surveys to high standards., • Calculating working points for layout when needed., • Running levels through site control., • Stay current with certifications and training, • Ability to run the Trimble Dini, Trimble GPS, Trimble Total Station, • Work with project manager and other surveyors to complete surveys., • Plan and organize surveying efforts to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, mining, or other purposes, • Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed, • Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts, i.e., forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hangers and supports, etc., • Computes cross sections of work performed for cost or payment purposes., • Associates Degree in Architecture/Engineering or, • 5 years of Survey experience, • Position equivalent with Certified Survey Technician, Level IV, • Extensive knowledge of surveying methods and proper practices., • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills., • Able to effectively communicate with owner supervisors, engineers, clients and co-workers., • Ability to prioritize workload and communicate this with Survey Manager and Project Managers., • The ability to resolve issues with a job., • Ability to work extended hours., • Ability to work independently and resolve everyday problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues and/or risks., • Have a strong work ethic., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Proficient computer skills including the use of the Microsoft Office., • Safety support and planning work with Health and Safety Personnel., • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license., • Must have the ability to pull and back up trailers., • Outside environment, exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. Site specific exposure to hazardous materials requiring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Noise levels are site specific and may be subject to PPE. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus., • The position requires that you walk the construction site, climb ladders, climb stairs and walk on uneven ground., • Must have the ability to multitask., • Position requires the employee to spend the majority of their time on the project sites.
