Job Description Multiple Positions Posting closes 17 September 2025 GENERAL SUMMARY Operates equipment and performs manual labor necessary to maintain vegetation, to ensure the enjoyment and safety of the public along the Mission Reach, Museum Reach and San Pedro Culture Park. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. • Maintains formal plant communities; removes weeds, clears brush, mows, trims, prunes, plants, seeds, irrigates, digs, and rakes public areas. Implements corrective actions as needed including irrigating, and/or applying herbicide, and pesticide or fertilizer., • Ability to plant and/or maintain low impact development features., • May supervise and coordinate work with contractors and volunteers., • May perform rain event litter pickup and floatable debris removal within project areas. Manually loads trucks with sand, gravel, or waste material., • Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment such as power and hand tools, mowers, weed eaters, tractors, vehicles, and other equipment commonly used for vegetative, slope, and structural maintenance. Performs routine maintenance checks on equipment, vehicles, and structures., • Operates and maintains PTO (Power Take Off) and motor driven pumps, traveling irrigation equipment, and other similar agricultural equipment for supplemental watering. Installs and repairs irrigation systems and performs basic maintenance of wireless and stationary irrigation control boxes., • Maintains appropriate records for storage and use of hazardous materials including training records and Safety Data Sheets., • Trains and provides guidance and instruction to Landscape Technician I Required Education and Experience • Landscape Technician I: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and one (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of landscape or agricultural equipment and/or experience in physical landscape labor; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, • Within six (6) months of employment: ability to attain a “Handlers Verification Card” for herbicide application; attain a Texas Parks & Wildlife Boater Safety card; obtain CPR/First Aid Certification COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
