Position summary: The Assistant Director (AD) of Operations is responsible for logistics processes and supply chain management to optimize workflow efficiency and meet productivity goals, quality standards, and cost objectives. The AD will oversee productivity standards and compliance with a focus on distribution operations to include transportation efficiency, warehouse management and safety, inventory management, purchasing of certain goods for distribution, and upkeep and maintenance of the distribution facility(s). The AD will manage the Distribution and Transportation Managers and teams ensuring timely deliveries of quality food items to clients daily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Organizational Leadership · Provides leadership to the distribution teams by setting goals, meeting regularly with the team and individual staff, and supporting the development of staff. Operations, Logistics & Quality Assurance • Oversees the transportation team and fleet to ensure efficient and timely delivery with high customer service standards., • Develops efficient systems and determines equipment and resources needed for meal production and meal delivery in coordination with department staff., • Streamlines logistics processes and systems for finished goods storage, packing and expediting for delivery. · Ensures that proper product rotation occurs thus minimizing losses. · Tracks and reports lost inventory and costs. · Monitors, tracks and reports temperature ranges at various stages and locations with-in the distribution process. Technology • Owns the WMS warehouse processes of ERP/CRM solution., • Owns the Routing and Delivery software to provide ontime, quality products to clients., • Collaboratively, with the team, identifies required tools to efficiently perform the tasks at hand., • Keeps abreast of the technology and systems trends and best practices and makes recommendations to improve operations. Other Duties: · Maintains distribution facilities to SQF standards · May represent Director, Operations, Systems, and Planning on boards, committees, coalitions and working groups and at meetings and community events as needed. · Adheres to all Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, by protecting the privacy and security of all patient/client health information · Participates in Moveable Feast’s events as required. · Knowledge of and adherence to Moveable Feast’s Personnel Policies and Procedures · Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE · 4-year degree preferred. · Minimum 5 years of professional food service, healthcare or consumer goods distribution operations experience. · Possess or can obtain ServSafe Certification · At least 3 years of experience utilizing supply chain software system · Experience forecasting workforce requirements, goals, and associated costs · Must be able to work on site during production hours KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES · Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Moveable Feast · Commitment to Moveable Feast’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principles and practices · Knowledge of Food safety practices especially with regard to storing and packing meals for people with medical needs or specialty diets · Knowledge of operational improvement methods; certification in Lean, project management, and/or design thinking preferred · Ability to stand at counter height for up to 4 or more hours; lift up to 50 pounds · Must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, video conferencing, slide presentations, online calendar and email · Must possess strong time management and organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks effectively · Ability to work independently and with a team · Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders · Candidate must adhere to high ethical standards of integrity and discretion in working with confidential information Company DescriptionMoveable Feast has served Maryland for over thirty-five years, bringing healthy food and compassion to those living with chronic illnesses.
