Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville is seeking an exceptional Veterinary Technician or highly skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight ER team. This role is ideal for professionals who want to work at the top of their license, manage critical patients, and contribute meaningfully to life-saving care. • True ICU-level medicine in a Specialty & Emergency hospital, • High case complexity with ER, Internal Medicine, and Specialty collaboration, • Weekend-only overnight schedule = work-life balance without sacrificing career growth, • Strong focus on clinical excellence, autonomy, and advancement, • Sunday - Thursday shifts needed 7pm-7amOvernight shifts required, • Triage and provide rapid assessment of emergency and critical care patients, • Assist with emergency stabilization, life-saving treatments, and urgent procedures, • Perform key technical skills: IV catheter placement, blood draws, transfusions, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring, • Administer medications (IV, IM, SQ, and oral) and monitor patient response, • Continuously reassess and monitor hospitalized and unstable patientsClient Communication, • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners in emergency situations, • Provide timely updates on patient status, treatment plans, and next stepsTeam Collaboration, • Work closely with ER veterinarians and support staff in a fast-paced environment, • 2–3+ years of veterinary hospital experience (Emergency, ICU, or Specialty strongly preferred), • Advanced technical skills in anesthesia, emergency procedures, and patient monitoring, • Comfortable working independently on overnight shifts, • Strong communication skills and a calm, confident presence in high-pressure situations, • Physically able to lift, restrain, and stand for extended periods, • A true patient-first mindset and commitment to gold-standard care, • Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred but not required, • Prior experience in Emergency, ICU, or Specialty Medicine, • Competitive Pay:, • $21.00–$25.00/hr based on experience, • $26+/hr negotiable for actively Licensed Veterinary Technicians with relevant ER/Specialty experience, • Overnight Shift Differential: +$2/hr beginning at midnight, • Paid Time Off (PTO) + dedicated CE PTO, • Paid Continuing Education (conferences, workshops, online learning), • Career Growth & Advancement:, • Opportunities within ICU, ER, Specialty Medicine, • Support for pursuing VTS or advanced certifications, • Comprehensive Benefits Package:, • Medical, dental, vision, retirement planning, and more, • Student Loan & Licensure Assistance:, • For graduates of AVMA-accredited VT programs who completed the VTNE within the last 3 years, • Sign-On or Relocation Assistance for highly qualified Licensed Veterinary Technicians, • State-of-the-Art Facility & Equipment
