SUMMARY The DRIVER/MATERIAL HANDLER, under general direction and supervision of the Branch Manager, can expect to work closely with others to: • Pull, pack, crate, and load/unload products and equipment onto/oJ trucks and trailers, • Pick-up/Deliver full or partial loads of products and equipment from vendors/to customers, • Move products and equipment within the warehouse using forklift trucks and pallet jacks To be successful in this role, the candidate should be: • An effective communicator who takes initiative, drives and operates equipment safely, works well with technology, is well organized, and pays attention to detail., • Accustomed to working under pressure and responding to exceptions with a positive and respectful attitude., • Able to effectively manage assigned workloads without losing sight of deadlines or the big picture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description reflects management’s present assignment of essential functions. This role will also be involved in or responsible for: • Planning routes for economical use of time, fuel, and equipment, • Performing routine inspection of assigned vehicles and refer defects or repairs to supervisor, • Maintaining a clean truck, cab, and freight areas, as well as a neat and organized warehouse, • Counting and examining delivered inventory for receiving, • Monitoring and examining inventory for defective, returned, held, or damaged items, • Performing other tasks as assigned by Warehouse Manager • Performing all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for the role, the ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications: • Graduated from high school or have GED equivalent, • 2-5 years of relevant and verifiable driving and warehousing experience, • Active Tennessee Class B Commercial Driver’s License (> 18 months to expiration) preferred, • Clean MVR spanning a consecutive two years, • Experience with sit-down lift, zero turn stand-up lift, and powered/manual pallet jacks with an excellent safety record, • Experience or familiarity with packaging products and equipment preferred., • Availability from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday The ideal candidate will also have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Thorough knowledge and practical understanding of traffic laws, defensive driving, and proven skills for safely operating various straight trucks, air brakes, and other necessary equipment, • Experience with using a PC, smart phone, and printer/scanner/copy machine, as well as, with Microsoft Office applications, • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and the public, • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively (both verbal and written), and follow instructions, • Willingness to troubleshoot issues, work through challenges, adapt to last minute changes to orders or schedules, and be flexible while maintaining a positive attitude., • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in the role, • Ability to follow instructions with ease but can also determine best way to accomplish something if no instructions are provided, • Maintain a high-energy, positive attitude while navigating unforeseen operational hurdles., • Ability to be organized, keeping paperwork and orders in proper sequence, • Diligent, punctual, and consistently reliable, • A team player who shows initiative, works well with small groups, and assists others when needed
