Job DescriptionJob Title: Hydro Tester Job Description The Hydro Tester performs hydrostatic pressure testing on large industrial compressors, engines, piping, vessels, and related components to verify structural integrity, leak resistance, and compliance with engineering, customer, and safety standards. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical aptitude, careful attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety procedures while working with high-pressure systems in a manufacturing or overhaul environment. Responsibilities • Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on large industrial compressors, engines, piping, vessels, and related components in accordance with engineering and customer specifications., • Set up test equipment, including pumps, gauges, hoses, fixtures, and test manifolds, to safely and accurately conduct pressure tests., • Pressurize components using water or other approved test media while following defined pressure limits and test procedures., • Inspect components for leaks, pressure loss, or structural defects during and after testing, and document any nonconformances., • Accurately record test results, pressures, durations, and observations on test documentation and logs., • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, test procedures, and pressure specifications to ensure proper test setup and execution., • Safely depressurize and drain components after testing, and prepare them for rework, repair, or the next process step., • Troubleshoot test setup issues, equipment malfunctions, or unexpected test results, and promptly report nonconforming conditions to engineering or quality teams., • Follow all safety protocols related to high-pressure systems, heavy equipment, and manufacturing operations to maintain a safe work area., • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant test areas, and ensure testing equipment, tools, and fixtures are properly maintained and in good working order., • Collaborate with and support quality, production, and inspection teams as needed to meet production schedules and quality requirements.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 3 years of hydrostatic or hydro testing experience, preferably with large industrial equipment., • Proven experience performing pressure testing on compressors, engines, pressure vessels, piping, or other rotating and static equipment., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and detailed test procedures., • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and disassembly., • Proficiency with pressure testing equipment, including pumps, gauges, hoses, fixtures, and test manifolds., • Skilled in the safe use of common hand tools and power tools in an industrial or manufacturing environment., • Demonstrated ability to follow strict safety procedures when working with high-pressure systems and heavy equipment., • Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting test parameters, results, and observations.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in a manufacturing, overhaul, or industrial repair facility., • Background in mechanical assembly of pressure piping or pressure-containing components., • Familiarity with hydrotest standards and best practices for pressure testing., • Ability to troubleshoot test setups and collaborate effectively with engineering and quality teams., • Strong communication skills to clearly report test results and nonconformances., • Organizational skills to maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient test area.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on testing and processing large industrial equipment. You will work on a second-shift schedule, typically from 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed to meet production demands. The environment involves frequent use of pressure testing equipment, pumps, gauges, hoses, fixtures, hand tools, and power tools around large compressors, engines, and pressure vessels. Safety protocols for high-pressure systems and heavy equipment are strictly enforced, and work areas are maintained to be clean, organized, and compliant with facility standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
