Deployment Project Manager - EV Charging & Solar

Contract Type: Freelance/ Short-term (Full-time) About Smartports: Smartports is revolutionizing energy use in parking areas through its innovative solar carport solutions (CAP and PAC) integrating Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure (EVCI) and energy storage. We design, finance, and deploy sustainable infrastructures that transform parking lots into energy assets. As part of our strong growth in the French market, we are seeking an experienced and autonomous Deployment Project Manager to lead the execution of our installations. Your Mission: As a Deployment Project Manager, you are responsible for the successful execution of our solar carport and EV charging station installation projects, from post-sale technical validation through to final commissioning at our client sites. You will ensure adherence to deadlines, budgets, quality, and safety standards, managing all stages and stakeholders involved. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to manage complex projects end-to-end. Your Key Responsibilities: • Technical Validation: Analyze and validate the technical feasibility of sold projects (site layout, electrical sizing, site constraints)., • Supplier and Partner Management: Identify, select, and manage subcontractors (electrical installers, civil works, etc.) and suppliers of complementary equipment., • Order Management: Manage equipment orders (carports, chargers, electrical components, etc.) and track logistics through to site delivery., • Planning and Coordination: Develop detailed project schedules, coordinate the various phases (preparatory work, installation, grid connection), and manage stakeholders (internal teams, clients, subcontractors, inspection bodies, etc.)., • Grid Connection Management: Lead the administrative and technical processes required for connecting installations to the public distribution grid (primarily Enedis in France), ensuring follow-up until authorizations are obtained and connection is effective., • Site Supervision: Regularly monitor construction sites (frequent site visits), ensure compliance with plans, safety standards (health & safety plans), and quality of execution., • Commissioning: Coordinate and oversee the technical commissioning of EV chargers and solar installations, perform functional tests, and manage the technical handover with the client., • Overall Project Management: Ensure budget tracking, risk management, stakeholder communication, and project documentation. Your Profile: • Higher technical education (Bachelor's or Master's level) in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Project Management, or a relevant technical field., • Proven experience of at least 5 years in managing complex technical projects, ideally involving infrastructure deployment (energy, construction, telecoms...)., • Solid technical knowledge in electricity (low/high voltage), ideally in EV charging infrastructure and/or photovoltaics. Knowledge of the Enedis grid connection process is a major asset., • Excellent command of project management methodologies (planning, budget, risk, resource and supplier management)., • Extremely autonomous, proactive, and capable of taking initiative to successfully lead projects in a dynamic environment., • High flexibility and adaptability to manage unforeseen site conditions and shifting priorities., • Strong stress resilience and ability to perform under pressure related to deadlines and technical/financial challenges., • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) in French (native level proficiency essential)., • Valid driving license (frequent travel required). Bonus Points / Desired Qualifications: • Specific experience in deploying Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI)., • Specific experience in deploying solar photovoltaic power plants (especially carports)., • Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2...)., • Knowledge of applicable French standards (NFC 15-100, UTE guides...)., • Excellent level of technical English.
