If you live outside this area but would still find the commute manageable, please get in touch – we are happy to review individual circumstances. \n About the role \n We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team at MHA. This is a valued role, supporting the Cook to deliver nutritious, well-presented meals that meet residents’ dietary needs while helping to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming kitchen environment. \n As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play an important part in supporting residents’ health and wellbeing, working in line with food safety standards and MHA’s values of care, respect and dignity. \n What you will do \n \n • Support the Cook with food preparation, serving meals, washing up and storing crockery and utensils safely.\n, • Keep all areas of the kitchen clean and tidy in line with cleaning schedules and the Food Safety Manual.\n, • Dispose of waste food safely and hygienically.\n, • Ensure adequate supplies of cleaning and washing-up materials are available.\n, • Assist with laundry tasks for kitchen linen.\n, • Follow COSHH, food hygiene, health & safety and infection prevention requirements at all times.\n, • Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice.\n, • A basic food hygiene certificate (essential).\n, • Previous experience of basic food preparation (desirable).\n, • Good communication and listening skills.\n, • The ability to follow instructions and prioritise tasks effectively.\n, • A positive, flexible approach to work.\n, • Sensitivity to the needs of older people and a commitment to quality service.\n, • Willingness to undertake training and development.\n, • 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) and an option to buy annual leave (pro-rota for part time)\n, • A strong pension scheme and life assurance\n, • Free DBS checks and uniforms\n, • Confidential counselling, chaplaincy support and access to our hardship fund\n, • Flexible options to buy or sell annual leave, plus family-friendly policies\n, • Discounts through the Blue Light Card, Health Service Discounts and the Vivup app\n, • A full induction, ongoing training and development opportunities\n
