COSTS LAWYER, SOLICITOR, CHARTERED LEGAL EXEC OR LAW COSTS DRAFTSMAN WITH LEGAL AID AND INTER PARTES EXPERIENCE – LONDON \n\n Gemini Recruitment are currently partnering with specialist Lawyers and Law Costs Draftsmen (Cost Law Services Ltd) who are seeking experienced Costs Lawyer, Solicitor, Chartered Legal Exec or Law Costs Draftsman with extensive experience in drafting bills on Legal Aid and Inter Partes matters. \n\n Salary: On offer is an attractive salary package, a supportive team environment and real prospects for success and promotion. The Company will consider hybrid working. \n\n Accountability within a remote working culture is the norm within this business. \n\n COSTS BACKGROUND: \n\n Cost Law Services Limited is looking for two costs professionals with Inter Partes and Legal Aid experience. We have grown exponentially to form a team of over 30 Law Costs Draftsmen and Lawyers in the UK with immense experience in all aspects of costs law in the UK and 35+ staff abroad. Not only do we represent a leading legal aid practice on all their billing they are now focusing on growing their client base. \n\n Our broad spectrum of billing varies across multiple areas of law with a sound knowledge of the costs system and the ability to manage client expectations and to ensure their cash flow is maintained. \n\n Our work involves a wide variety of legal practice areas and including Court of Protection, Children Law, Clinical Negligence, Commercial Litigation, Family, Housing & Property Litigation, Immigration, Judicial Review and Personal Injury matters. This includes, all the varied types of Bills, PODS; Replies; Negotiations; Budgets – (and relevant precedents), PA and DA assessments etc. \n\n THE ROLE - Main Duties and Responsibilities: \n\n\n\t • Report directly to Supervisor;\n\t, • Professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and a proactive understanding of clients’ needs;\n\t, • Drafting 3 or 6 column Inter partes bills;\n\t, • Drafting Electronic Bills;\n\t, • To complete service of bills;\n\t, • Drafting POD’s/ Replies;\n\t, • Conducting Negotiations;\n\t, • Drafting Costs Budgets and relevant Precedents;\n\t, • Costs for summary assessment;\n\t, • Drafting of estimates of costs to accompany Allocation Questionnaires and Pre-Trial Checklists;\n\t, • Ability to set matters down for PA Assessment;\n\t, • Ability to set matters for DA assessment;\n\t, • To complete post –assessment work;\n\t, • To liaise and advise fee earners and support staff in relation to the variety of legal costs matters;\n\t, • Experience in corresponding with third parties – experts, counsel etc.,\n\t, • Maintaining accurate time costing procedures on inter partes negotiations;\n\t, • Implementing any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly reviews ensuring that these are dealt with promptly;\n\t, • Ensuring compliance case management system updates;\n\t, • Demonstrated passion and experience in Costs Law\n\t, • Strong academic background (e.g., Law degree)\n\t, • Legal experience as a Costs Draftsperson or Costs Lawyer/Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive – minimum 3 years’ PQE\n\t, • Clear understanding and application of the Civil Procedure Rules relating to costs\n\t, • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience, depending on qualifications, in drafting Inter Partes and Legal Aid bills\n\t, • Costs negotiation experience\n\t, • Advocacy skills helpful but not essential\n\t, • Business acumen and ability to market the Company\n\t, • Excellent communication skills\n\t, • Strong analytical and organisational skills; able to use initiative while knowing when to seek guidance\n\t, • Team player with ability to work independently; self-motivated and professional\n\t, • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, document management, and Costs Master\n\t, • tional holiday accrual*\n\t, • Up to 4 days paid sick leave*\n\t, • Practicing Certificate renewed annually\n\t, • ACL Panel Membership and Accreditation/re Accreditation/ Reaccreditation fee paid for*\n\t, • Panel courses mandatory for Accreditation paid for*\n\t, • Access to vast range of training webinars / E-Library\n\t, • Automatic enrolment onto the Company’s pension scheme\n\t, • Childcare Vouchers\n\t, • Eye test vouchers\n\t, • Excellent progression opportunities\n\t, • Supportive team environment.\n\t, • Part time working\n\t, • Flexible working arrangements/ considered\n\t
