About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Curriculum Manager for Social Sciences to lead and develop a high-quality, inclusive and ambitious curriculum within a thriving Further Education college near Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong academic leader with a passion for student success and curriculum innovation. The ideal candidate will have a background in Psychology and will be able to contribute to teaching; however, we are open to applicants from a purely managerial background with relevant sector experience. Key Responsibilities • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Social Sciences programmes (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, Criminology or related subjects), • Lead on curriculum planning, design, and quality improvement, ensuring provision meets learner, employer and awarding body requirements, • Drive student achievement, retention, and progression outcomes across all programmes, • Manage, support and develop a team of teaching staff, including performance management and CPD, • Monitor and improve teaching, learning and assessment quality through observation and coaching, • Ensure compliance with Ofsted, funding, and awarding organisation standards, • Lead on curriculum growth and innovation, responding to local and regional skills needs, • Manage budgets and resources effectively, • Deliver high-quality teaching in Psychology (or a related subject), typically up to a reduced teaching load, • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support diverse learner needs Essential: • Degree (or equivalent) in Psychology or a relevant Social Science subject, • Experience in curriculum leadership, course leadership, or programme management within FE or education, • Strong understanding of FE sector requirements, quality assurance, and Ofsted expectations, • Proven ability to improve student outcomes and curriculum quality, • Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed), • Experience teaching Psychology at Level 2–5 (or A-Level equivalent), • Experience managing staff and budgets, • Knowledge of local labour market needs in the South Coast region
