Role Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Business Analyst to support financial planning, performance monitoring, and strategic decision-making. This role sits within the Finance Directorate and works closely with policy, operations, commercial, and senior leadership teams to ensure robust financial management and effective use of public funds. Key Responsibilities Conduct financial analysis to support operational planning and delivery Prepare high-quality financial reports, dashboards, and briefings for senior leaders Support annual budgeting, medium-term financial planning, and in-year forecasting Analyse cost drivers, risks, and variances, proposing recommendations for improvement Provide business-partnering support to directorates across the organisation Contribute to the development and review of business cases in line with HM Treasury Green Book guidance (or relevant national framework) Ensure compliance with financial policies, audit requirements, and governance standards Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and systems Skills & Experience Required Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field Professional qualification or part-qualification/QBE (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) is desirable Experience working in a finance, analysis, or business partnering role-public sector experience is an advantage Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret complex data Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial or BI systems (e.g., Power BI) Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to non-financial stakeholders Strong attention to detail, organisational capability, and commitment to high standards of accuracy Ability to work effectively in a large, multi-disciplinary organisation with competing priorities What We Offer: A competitive salary within the government pay structure Civil service pension scheme / public sector pension benefits Flexible, hybrid working arrangements Access to professional development, training, and career progression The opportunity to contribute to work that makes a meaningful impact on the public Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
