    Job Description: Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced chef (we're hiring for all levels) to join our team here at Ember! We have been a feature of the culinary scene in Pontcanna, Cardiff, for just over a year now and are looking for someone to take us to the next level. Our focus is on seasonal British produce, fresh pasta, breads and butchery. Quality ingredients and expert preparation is at the heart of everything we do, showcasing the best of local and seasonal flavours. Our menu changes often and we want someone as passionate about food and hospitality as we are. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences. As a key member of our kitchen management, you will oversee daily food preparation, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained at all times. Duties • Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow, • Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including chefs and junior team members, fostering a positive team environment, • Oversee food production processes, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation, • Coordinate food preparation activities, including cooking, plating, and garnishing of menu items, • Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen areas, • Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating innovative ideas while respecting established recipes and standards, • Manage inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste to optimise efficiency, • Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure timely delivery of orders and excellent customer service Experience • Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment, • Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food preparation techniques, • Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively, • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality settings, • Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable, • Familiarity with culinary trends and innovative cooking methods is advantageous, • Experience in managing kitchen operations during high-pressure periods while maintaining attention to detail This role requires a passionate culinary professional committed to excellence in food service.
